Is there any way to skip FMV's on final fantasy VIII?

Because my cd1 freezes on its last fmv, and i've tried cleaning the cd, i've tried everything( Exept for doctor skip and those craps, i'm looking for something cheap) and it stil freezes on the same place. So i've figured out that the only option I have is to buy a new one or to skip the FMV...

So, is there any waY?

I remember something like that happened to me before.I fixed it by taking the disc out and putting it back in.God knows how or why but it worked.Give it a try.

Be more specific... While playing the fmv? That will skip?

When it freezes. That worked for me.Not saying it will work for you by any means but give it a try.

There is no specific "FMV skip" code. Incidentally, I'm guessing you have the Playstation version of the game?

It doesnt... :( I had already tried that... i've tried almost everything that i could... but it freezes always at the same spot never passes that point, that's what irritates me the most...

---Edit---

Yep, I have the PS version... I'm not saying a code, but a little trick, like in final fantasy IX if you open the playstation an then close it it will skip the fmv's... But maybe square put that on purpose because of the 12hour quest...
:((

But thanks for the tips ;)

Yeah, I'm aware of the Final Fantasy IX thing --- I too used that for the 12 hour quest. But I'm not aware of there being a similar trick for FFVIII and believe me, I wished at one point myself there was because I ended up having to replace my own Playstation copy because I couldn't get past a particular FMV.

And even more frustating its because its the last FMV from the first CD, just need to past by that part, fight the sorceres to go to cd2 and then I wouldnt have to spend hours thinkin on a way to solve this problem... Sorry, i'm very upset :P

Guess Il have to buy a new one...

Nope, it's after irvine "misses" the shot, and squall jumps in to the crowd and grabs a car and hits the gates... It freezes in many parts in that fmv, but it always, freezes on a part when he is in the car, and stops there...

if your playing on an original ps1 open the lid, leave the cd in the press that small button the top right, hold it down untill the cd starts spinning to an alriggth speed then close the lid i used that trick to get past the ending after the credits it'd freeze.

OMG, I don't know how, but I've managed to pass the FMV, I've been trying for a week to pass that fmv, but it always freezes on the same part, today, i've cleaned some obvious scratches(it has alot) with a polishing liquid for watches... I dont know if that its what done it, but the fmv still froze, but after awhile it passed the part where it always freezes!!! It was definately the polywatch because I have this problem for ages, and i've tried everything... Now I'm finally on cd2(that has no problems :) , at list it didnt...)

I posted this a long time ago. Do what I tell you in this thread and it will work. Trust me. http://www.forums.ffshrine.org/showthread.php?t=20199&highlight=skipping+scene

I've read something similar, i've tried it in VIII and it didn't work, maybe it only works in VII, or maybe I did it wrong... But I've already solved my problem :) . Thanks anyway :)

also if you are using a ps2 turn on the console without a disc and press triangle on the browser you should see playstation driver 1.11 in the list press triange after you have highlighted it and it will show disc speed and texture mapping
set disc speed to fast...ive found it handles scratched discs better for some reason
(maybe that it is forced to read ahead)
(and the texture mapping set to smooth will improve the blockyness in some games but is hardly noticible)

I've cleaned the cd with the watch polisher, and it still froze, but after 10 minutes or so, it got of the freezing part... And believe me Ive been insiting for ages, tried everything and it kept freezing on the same part... So try to find out what is the scratch that is giving you the freezing problem and use a liquid polisher in it... Or go to a store where they can remove you scratches from cds(I didnt do that because i dont have any nearby...)

FINAL FANTASY VIII HATES ME!!! I was saying the my other cds didnt have any problem(that's what I thought) CD2 FREEZES ON THE LAST FMV! Just like my cd one(in one is not on the last, but is close) even worst, the fmv where it freezes is where there is that mini game between squall and the galbadian soldier(In the part of the fight between galbadia an balam garden) Thats even worst than the freezing on my cd1, because this one affects a mini game... OMG... The last time i've played only cd1 had an freezing problem (I dunno about disc four, ive only reached the beggining of it)

IM BEING CURSED!!!!!!!!!!

----edit---

Fixed it again!! yeeah!! I did the same as i did with the first cd, cleaned the obious scratches with polywatch(twice), and this time, the fmv didnt even freeze... polish liquids rulez!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, if you open the disk tray just as the FMV starts, it skips it to the next normal scene, however I think this is high bullshit.

Just buy another FFVIII (they aint expensive), or lend a disk 1.
