I sometimes accidentally download an album that I already have and end up trying to decide which to keep. Up until now I've been deciding based on mostly arbitrary reasons (which was tagged better, inclusion of .cue or .log files), but I would definitely prefer to use more objective methods. Put simply, I'm trying to find a way to discern if there are differences in quality between two different audio files for the same track. I've looked into programs that display audio waveforms, such as Audacity and Sonic Visualiser but frankly I don't know what I'm looking for.
Any advice on the topic or anything related would be appreciated. If you have software recommendations, I have access to both Linux and Windows machines.
