The Key is a British war film set in 1941 during the Battle of the Atlantic. It was based on the 1951 novel Stella by Jan de Hartog (later republished as The Distant Shore and The Key) and was directed by Carol Reed. William Holden, Sophia Loren and Trevor Howard stars in the production.




► CONSIDERATIONS

This is my own rip and scans.

Doing things by the book, the tracks were extracted from my CD using EAC, directly in FLAC and generating log- and cue- file.

Next, out of curiosity, I decided to submit the rip to three different checking tools, so as to verify the FLAC condition. Here is the result:



that is, all three tests failed.

Nowhere in the printed material did I see the statement the content was remastered. So, I suppose, at best, it was transferred directly from the original tapes recorded in late 1950’, whose audio quality is far below a digital recording, letting the checking tools to conclude the tracks were upsampled.

To my ears, the CD sound quality is very good. I can notice no difference among CD-, FLAC- and mp3@320- format. Perhaps because I haven’t dog’s ear, and, I’m afraid, this wouldn’t be the only reason (LOL).

Anyway, I’ll made available FLAC- and mp3@320- format and each one decides what is suitable for him / her self.

BTW in my expeerience if you want to check the authencity of a FLAC always use fakin the funk and check its spectrogram using spek, and of course your own ears, those three combined make for the best bet to check if somethng is genuine or not, not with 100% accuracy though!
