I like them since I've heard their most famous song up-to-date: "Clint Eastwood." They provide a cool sidestep for everyone bored of typical, everyday music... I haven't heard anything from FGI save the single, but it should keep the level of the former LPs.

And did you know that the Gorillaz were firstly just a lil' side project of the Blur frontman? It turned out the other way, Gorillaz are know famous and who knows anything more from Blur than Song2? ;)

I normally hate hip hop, but the Gorillaz make it an art form. I really do like them. Did you know that the voice of the Gorillla with the blue hair is a skinny english man that wears extremly oversized basketball jersys? I saw him in an interview.

Their self titled album is much better than Demon Days, imo - Feel Good Inc isn't fantastic compared to Clint Eastwood and Sound Check. I still like Demon Days though.

i just picked up the july issue of 'Wired' and they have Neil Gaiman, who did that awsome sandman book with Yoshitaka Amano among other sandman books, interviewing Damon Albarn (blur guy) and Jamie Hewlett (creator of the 'Tank Girl' comic) both responsable for making Gorillaz.

"Not that it matters - Gorillaz is a virtural band. It doesn't quite exist. Its four members (2D, Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs, and Noodle), designed and drawn by Hewlett, are fictional. The group inhabits Kong Studios, high on a mountain in Essex, northeast of London. There are no mountains in Esses. The band exists enough to make music, to produce videos, to remix, and to be remixed."

i'm only giving part's of the interview.

Gaiman: "How did Gorillaz come about?"
Hewlett: "We were flatmates. One day, we
were home watching MTV with our eyes just
kind of glazed. Because if you watch MTV
for too long, it's a bit like hell - There's
nothing of substance there. So we got this
idea for a cartoon band, something that
would be a comment on that."
Albarn: "We're the generation whose stars
come from 'Pop Idol' and celebrity-wrestling
shows. And it's all a bit like a cartoon, really.

Gaiman: "The paradox is that by being completely
artificial, Gorillaz is a lot less artificial then a
boy band or any of these other constructed
entities we're all used to."
Hewlett: "Exactly. If you're going to pretend
to be somebody you're not - which is the
whole point of being a rock star - then why
not just invent fake characters and have
them do it all for you?"
Albarn: "I hope we can keep doing it this
way - making music and art that are pure
products of our influences while not really
having to let the whole celebrity side of it
get in the way. Then maybe more virtual
bands will come out and do the same thing.
And then hopefully there will be so many of
us that people will ask themselves, What in
the world is going on here? we're buying
magazines full of cartoons!"

Gaiman: "You also seem inspired by horror movie
imagery. Why are there so many zombies
in your videos?"
Albarn: Well, because everybody on TV's
a f**king zombie, right? I mean, watch a
50 Cent video where he's in the middle of a
club, and he's just surrounded by zombies.
The Gorillaz cartoons seem more real to me
then the actual people on TV. Because at
least you know that there's some intelli-
gence behind the cartoons, and there's a
lot of work that's gone into it, so it can't all
be just a lie."
Hewlett: "Yeah, I'm much more at home
with Daffy Duck then i am with a real
person. But the whole zombie thing is
an obsession of mine. I love zombie films.
Once, I looked out the window where i work
and realized that everybody was walking
around in circles with their mobile phones
attached to their heads - it reminded me of
that scene from Dawn fo the Dead in the car
lot. That was a big inspiration."
Albarn: "These are the seeds of the future,
aren't they? You need to identify them."

Gorillaz are pretty cool, though 'Demon Days' I have to say isn't as good as I was hoping, I like the 'Feel Good Inc.' single, but apart from that not much else stands-out. Also to the person who talked as if 'Song 2' were Blur's only song, go and listen to more of their stuff like 'End Of A Century', 'Music Is My Radar', and 'The Universal.' All better songs than 'Song 2', which is still a great song though.

They're total hypocrites from that first thing they said.
All they've done is mock themselves with their new album. It's total shit.

Blur's best stuff was on Parklife.

I enjoyed the first album and I find the second one to be equally good, although I wish they would've used Del more on Demon Days. And I dont know if I approve of the change from Dan the Automator to Danger Mouse. I love the videos as well as the music and find the whole concept to be a fresh breeze in a stagnant music genre.

I dont actually remember the title but it goes like that.

It's called Song 2. Blur are probably better than Gorrilaz, but Gorrilaz are still a very good band and one of the few inventive modern bands, but to be fair some of their songs are really dull.
