Frankenstein is an American pre-Code horror monster film from Universal Pictures, directed by James Whale and adapted from the play by Peggy Webling, which in turn was based on Mary Shelley's 1818 novel of the same name. The Monste Frankenstein is portrayed by Boris Karloff and the cast also includes Colin Clive, Mae Clarke, John Boles, Dwight Frye and Edward van Sloan.
The music was composed by Bernhard Kaun and Giuseppe Becce, both uncredited.
Three years later it was released the first of many sequels of the movie, The Bride of Frankenstein, also directed by James Whale and stared by Boris Karloff as the Monster. Elsa Lanchester, Colin Clive and Ernest Thesige are in the cast. Franz Waxman composed the soundtrack.
This album is re-recording of the original score by Franz Waxman, performed by the Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kenneth Alwyn.
Previously Ive started two other threads related to the franchise. House of Frankenstein [HERE (Thread 230211)] and Frankenstein + Bride of Frankenstein (a set of sound clips from both original films) [HERE (Thread 230756)].
