I got the game about a month ago and can't believe how boring it is. I barely played it. I got as far as the part where you fight the pirates or whatever. I find the game very hard and kind of annoying that your characters don't even speak. Anyways I don't like to rant but should I continue to play?

No.
You do have to consider that this is one of the first Final Fantasy games and considering on how limited you are in the game, it is very difficult to be emerged in the game compared to newer final fantasy games.
And just because it is the first Final Fantasy game, it doesn't mean you should play it to the end. Remember: This game was made many years ago back in the 80's.

well if your bored here you have a long way to go, if you have the orginal nes version your going to have a damn hard time but if you got DOS you might be alright either version is playable if youve had previous FF experience i recommend finishing it if your looking for completeness, if you havent played FF6/4/5 then maybe you wanna play those there easier and they talk :D.

Thanks for the good advice. Ill probably never play it again. :)
Mr. MogKnight is right, well of course this game was made back in the late 80's so don't expect to much from the game. But if your the type of guy that whose question is where did ff game originated? Then play ff1, but it's ok if you don't finish the game

FFI is a fun game if and only if you're looking for a challenge. My problem with the later FF games is that they're a bit too easy. You see, FFI was the first one that I ever played, and it taught me to get into the habit of levelling up for hours upon end, and that ultimately made the other FFs a complete joke. The reason why idiots like me have beaten FFI (with or without all thieves) is because we're RPG nerds who have nothing better to do than spend hours levelling up. That's the kind of person FFI was made for.

if you are a true fan of the ff series then you should play it, because it did start it all. But if you are board then there is nothing you can do about it. Just in the name of ff give it a second try.
i agree with ff1withallthieves because it is what i do also. I level up like a crazy person.

Technically, “Dragon Warrior (Quest) I” started it all, because it was the first RPG for a consol and the inspiration for FFI.

I loved Final Fantasy 1. Sure the plot was a little slow and the graphics weren't great, but still you have to remember its the first one. When it came out people thought it was one of the most advanced games ever.Just like when nintendo 64 came out for the first time. every one thought that its amazing graphics could never be surpassed. and now look at everything. we were all so oooed and ahhhed by N64 and Playstation before. Now there second nature to us. PS2 and xbox have surpassed both.

i thought this game was fun even though the plot wasn't original(four heros get magic crystals to save the world) but you should still play it

If you play FF origins then the graphics will be better. The story is bad, but thats what started it all! I have nearly completed it. its really not that bad...

Yeah, and remember that Dawn of Souls is much, much easier than the original. I'm not saying Dawn of Souls is bad; I played it for about 20 hours within the first three days of my having it. I'm just saying that you shouldn't go thinking FFI is a piece of cake because Dawn of Souls is, because it's not. Anyway, I would reccomend FFI to any ff fan who's up for a challenge (above FFVII and FFVIII, to say the least).

Yeah, FF1 was great. i came to a point where i was stuck, so all i did was level up crazy. From then on the game was wicked easy. I'm trying to work on FF2 right now but it's harder to get into.

Imo, FF2 is the best NES Final Fantasy. Sure, the leveling up system is weird, and the codeword thing is freaking annoying, but it was the first Final Fantasy to have a story more complex than "kill the 4 element fiends then go and kill chaos but die 100 bajillion times before you do because he's harder than someone's shit after a week of dehydration."
EDIT: I take that back. I just started playing FF1 on an emulator again and man oh man, it is definantly the best one. :D

I got bored after crossing the bridge at the start when it plays the 'final fantasy' theme.
To be honest i was playing it on a Nes emulator, but ive not beaten 4 or 5 which i own legitimately so i can't see the nes games holding my interest.

You guys must have the shortest attention spans ever. Even I, the inventor of the term ADD, was able to play this until I beat Chaos. (WHO WAS THE MOST ANNOYING BOSS EVER WITH HIS GODDAMN CURE 4 BULLSHIT >:0)

I don't understand it. Why do people always say Chaos was hard? Is there something wrong with my cartridge? I always destroy Chaos without any trouble at all. If I've ever gotten a game over from his dungeon, it was caused by the ENEMIES BEFORE HIM! Someone tell me why everyone says Chaos was hard but he was really easy in my game!

The only reason I can think of is under leveled and crap line up.
I had a Warrior, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage ( I like a balanced team ) all maxed out. I think Chaos lasted 3 maybe 4 turns

I've never gotten past the Earth Elemental  I stopped playing because lack of interest. Also one question I see a lot of screenshots of the characters but they're different... taller and cooler looking... how do you get those?
Kemtach2999
08-17-2005, 05:57 PM
If your talking about what I think you are talking about, then to get the 'cooler' characters you have to complete Bahamuts side quest to prove you are truly hero's then he rewards you by upgrading your class ( hence the change in appearance)

I'm playing the GBA version right now and I can say that I prefer how the characters looked before they changed classes. Especially the monk/master. Just looks bleh as a a master. Almost looks like Edgar without a shirt.

Just beat the game. To me it felt like 15-20 hours worth of FF grinding with no story. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it (though some parts were tedious), but it just simply felt like I was in the portion of other FFs where I had completed most of the main story and was working on leveling and sidequests... lol, that's really how it felt.

If you have the patients to go through a game with virtually no storyline whatsoever, it isn't all that hard. Just pull up a guide on the internet, and all you're problems are solved.

That game is awesome my brothers and I have an original nes so the cartridge is a little old but that game is awsome. It is a little hard but I loved it. I didn't like that level 25 was the highest but it started the legend so blitzking play the fucking game!!!! Also guitar woman chaos was simple with a knight ninja black/white wizard team with the knight with exaliber the ninja with the masamune. Screw the mages. Just heal with the white attack with the fighter and the theif, then magic with the black wizard peice of cake.
P.S. I usualy finish withe my knight still standing with excalibur.

That's the team I had, but they were badly underleveled due to my habit of not leveling up for hours on end.

YES!!!!!! Thank you!!! The only places I ever had troubles with are the Ice Cave and Garland's Castle 2000 years ago. If my party was ever slain, it was either against Lich or Tiamat 2000 years, or fighting all the friggin' monsters before ever getting to Chaos himself. Every time I've ever fought Chaos I beat him no problem. I don't understand what you people are talking about, with this game being so hard. There are certain aspects of this game that are annoying, such as only getting 9 magic points for each spell level... but c'mon!! You people all suck. :whatever: :whatever: >:O >:O   and

I had kind of a hard time beating him with all my characters at level 20, and not having gone through Bahamut's class change, my mages couldn't use level 8 magic. Also, every time I fought him, I casted magic like it was going out of style, and when I was done and about to finish him off, he used Cure 4 to bring himself back to full health. What a bastard.

Hehehe, try 4 warriors. I'd love to actually beat the game with that kinda party. I managed that with FF5 and FFT, but not with FF1. The classics are great for true FF fans, but you don't have to beat every FF game just cuz you're pressured into it. Leave it for a couple days and get bored of all your games and it'll grow on you. Besides, where would Cloud be without that 8-bit warrior?
