The "Lady Caliph" is the nickname that is given in the region of Emilia to a volitional woman without prejudices. The "Lady Caliph" is a widowed woman whose husband was killed during a strike with the police.
She hates Doberd�, owner of the factory where her husband worked when he was murdered. The wife of the murdered man, Lady Caliph, confronts Doberd� several times. On each occasion that they face, they are both attracted to each other, until they end up being lovers. The factory itself serves as a backdrop for this love story. However, in the end Doberd� will be killed by hit men sent by other industrialists who helped him get the love of "The Lady Caliph".
