WHAT IS THIS?

23 tracks that comprise the original sound version soundtrack for The Hybrid Front, a lesser-known futuristic military strategy / turn-based combat game developed by SEGA. Apparently a follow up to the Daisenryaku series but without the license, THF is a spiritual successor with an extensive written story by Masahiro Noda.

Naofumi Hayata has composed for Sonic Team and on Sonic CD. Assisted by Junko Shiratsu & Sachio Ogawa the pedigree is strong on this upbeat, highly melodic soundtrack. The usual Mega Drive Rock combines with some properly Sonic and Streets Of Rage-esque Sega Funk (tm) at times. It almost seems unfit for the kind of slow-paced gameplay one would associate with strategy games, but this ultimately makes it stand out all the more. Put simply, it's top level stuff and up there with the best Mega Drive soundtracks.

My goal is to present to the community well-mastered Original Sound Version / OST music of the greatest soundtracks video gaming has to offer, with an emphasis on early/mid-90s obscurities and classics. The VGMs for this game sound very muffled, though the quality of the music shines through. Now it shines even stronger with my usual mastering techniques. Note that some of the later tracks (e.g. 7) have some pronounced clicks that are part of the FM used in those tracks. I've removed a couple of the most prominent ones, but some are still present.

This game is the predecessor of Advance Wars but with more excellent OST. Thank you for Brother Vertiphon who remastered it
