WHAT IS THIS?
This is a compilation of three editions of the American Sonic The Hedgehog CD soundtrack. The equally brilliant Japanese soundtrack has already been remastered as the "20th Anniversary Edition", but the American soundtrack has remained without a freshly remastered official release to this day. The three versions I am providing here are as follows:
1. Vertiphon Super Edition: I have compiled all the "best" - in my opinion - versions of each track, some slightly re-edited and/or extended (e.g. some of the shorter game tracks where possible), to provide an "ultimate" OST version. Of course you're free to rearrange and swap tracks as you like, but hopefully many of you will find this to be a definitive "fan-made" version. Long versions from Boom have been used, but where I felt they were not superior, OST versions were used instead.
2. Boom: This is the officially released Boom soundtrack CD from QSound Media, remastered but otherwise completely unaltered. Also features the Sonic Spinball tracks co-composed with Howard Drossin.
3. OST: This is the original game soundtrack remastered but otherwise unaltered (hence "missing" track 1 which is a data track). The audio for this was taken from a CD image of the game and should be able to be inserted back into an image to provide a remastered in-game experience should you want it.
My goal is to present to the community well-mastered Original Sound Version / OST music of the greatest soundtracks video gaming has to offer, with an emphasis on early/mid-90s obscurities and classics. This fantastic and famous soundtrack sounds far, far better now than it did originally and I hope you enjoy it.
