Norio Hanzawa aka NON (Treasure) - Gunstar Heroes Original Sound Version Collection

Composed by Norio Hanzawa
Vertiphon 2017 Remaster
24-bit 44.1 kHz lossless FLAC audio format and 320kbit/s MP3.
WHAT IS THIS?
25 tracks. Gunstar Heroes. Joy.
This is possibly one of the greatest video game soundtracks ever made, certainly for the Sega Genesis / Megadrive at least. Norio-san was firing on all cylinders to compose a suitable accompaniment for - in 1993 - the most intense console-based platform shoot-em-up to that date. I don't think it would be inaccurate to say Gunstar Heroes beat out many arcade games at the time for sheer complexity, action and fun. Wasn't Seven Force totally mind-blowing at the time?
One of my goals with this endeavor is to present to the community well-mastered Original Sound Version / OST music of the greatest soundtracks video gaming has to offer. I have added some sympathetic mastering and really given this soundtrack the remaster it deserves. I previously remastered the game in 2010, but this new 2017 master is far, far better and I consider it definitive. Warning: the music is VERY high energy and intense and long listening sessions could give your ears a serious work out! (Seriously, care for your ears.)
A TECHNICAL NOTE
The VGM files available in various places for this game do NOT play correctly. Neither does what is currently considered one of the better Genesis / MD emulators Kega Fusion. Imagine listening to your favourite pieces of music but one of the drum sounds are missing. That's exactly what is wrong with players attempting to play the music of Gunstar Heroes: the hi-hats are missing, and it's very noticeable in tracks like Military On The Max or Dance-Dice-Days. So once again I went back to using GENS to record these tracks. I've compared them to other versions: they still sound very close if not pretty much the same as the real thing but, most importantly, the hi-hat sounds ARE THERE!
I forgot to mention in the readme that I highly recommend GAPLESS playback methods, whatever you use to listen to this soundtrack. Otherwise the "boss medley" might sound a bit odd. Foobar2000 will handle this no problem.
