Was waiting all day long, eager to have this song, and when it finally was available for me - I couldn't hold it. I had to download iTunes just for this. And in my opinion, it kinda was worth it. You could say I'm supporting Nintendo and letting them know I want more of them, right? :P Anyway, I'm glad of the purchase. There wouldn't have been that much of a difference in size, just one or two megs less perhaps. This is AAC, AAC is lossy, just the better lossy. It's not lossless. :P

AAC is better than MP3 in terms of sound quality, but unfortunaly converting this song into mp3, will make it worst.

I'm sure vlc can play that song.

I would have assumed that the filesize of AAC and MP3 would be virtually the same, depending on bitrate and other stuff.

No expert but MP3 files are usually in smaller sizes. I bought the copy from iTunes and this is the info from the file.

much of thanks. i got a question: in iTunes it shows this file was converted, it wasn't the original iTunes purchase. if you simply just want to hide the purchase info you can try tamper the audio file with a hex decoder, converting the file into lossy format will result in further sound quality loss.

I removed the metadata completely with FFmpeg, and then manually tagged it, following the original iTunes metadata. It was the quickest, most safest way. There was no data/quality loss in the actual song..

It might be they're cheap, but there might be a thousand other reasons why they go with downloads; perhaps they don't have a bank account or a card, perhaps they don't have iTunes and don't want to download it just to buy the song (like I did)
