WIDE WIDE WORLD was one of televisions earliest anthology series, hosted each Sunday afternoon by one of the true celebrity newsmen in 1950s TV, Dave Garroway, who took audiences to exotic and not so exotic places in the world they had never been or were likely to ever see in their lifetimes. Each episode was enhanced with original score music by David Broekman, at the time a veteran composer and conductor. In 1956 Broekman recorded a studio album of music from WIDE WIDE WORLD for RCA Victor, which was out of print by the 1960s and has never been reissued in any other format since. The basis for this download was a DSD archived original RCA pressing remastered using the extraction process which allows monaural recordings to play properly on the 2 speakers, surround & headphone systems in use today. To expand this program to CD length this download also includes a wonderful, rare 1955 RCA album, RECIPES FOR ROMANCE, with 12 original themes composed and conducted by Herbert Spencer & Earle Hagen. Spencer was a brilliant arranger who orchestrated many of the scores by Golden Age composers in the 1940s through the 1960s and Earle Hagen composed many early television and film scores in the 1950-60s. Besides composing the themes for The Dick Van Dyke Show & The Danny Thomas Show, it is Hagen himself whistling in his theme for The Andy Griffith Show, which was arranged & orchestrated by Herbert Spencer. RECIPES FOR ROMANCE was also DSD archived from a vintage RCA pressing and the monaural sound was remastered using the extraction process. These are two very rare 1950s pre-stereo albums, now preserved in digital for your hopeful approval and enjoyment.
