Has anyone here tried a Final Fantasy VI single character challenge? I'm just curious about how successful you were at it, if you tried (and what character you tried with).

No I haven't and I'm not planning on doing one. I think it is boring, and this kind of challenge is not that great.....in my opinion at least. :(

So... out of curiosity, what kind of challenges do you prefer, if any?

I'm not really in big challenges. Only little things like: Trying to beat the game as soon as possible but with everything in it. Besides that as many mastered abilities as possible, killing the weapons without good stats etc. (FF-VII)

In FF-X probably the Dark Aeons. I can't remember what there is in other games.

I don't like SSC's, I understand why people do them, they don't really appeal to me. neither does trying to get through a game as fast as possible yet still get everything. I like to take my time.

I only do that in FF-VII. Usually I like taking my time too. But in every game I have a small goal I try to reach. These are my challenges. ;)

I probably will try these one day. I never have the time too. Like Kem said, taking your time is better. You can enjoy the game more. There is also a challenge on FFVI for only using the characters u have to get in the world of Ruin (Setzer, Celes and Sabin i think...:?)

Setzer, Celes and Edgar, actually. I've considered trying that one, but going through that tower with one character each does not sound appealing.

I don't think the single character challenge is a very good idea for FFVI. Especially considering that there are enemies that use one hit kill attacks. The type of challenge I prefer is *cough cough* (my name).

It doesn't mean it can't be done. One-hit kill attacks like Doom can be countered by certain relics (Safety Bit, Memento Ring), and most of the really powerful attacks have some way of avoiding them. As long as you choose a character that can handle his/her own well, a single-character challenge can be a lot of fun.

To accomplish this you'd need the following

- Strategy guide
- Gameshark of some kind
- No life

if u kill off all ur characters except Terra, Celes, Edgar and Setzer the whole game theyll pretty much be maxed out and u could still beat Kefka with that team.Although i don't recommend it as your most likely to have a major artery explode due to stress :P.

I've tried single character challnege with Rock & it's quite easy!
but I had to
gain his level while equiping esper bismark or raiden (ifrit for early stage) to gain strength up to 128 +5 with gengi armor.
equip valiantknife in both hand with offering and genji glove.

I wacked kafka in one go (9999 x8)

gaining Edgar's strength and use autocrossbow gives 9999 damage to all enamies. same to magic strength.
