There's many, many Star Trek threads on this heah Shrine, but I'm talking of this one specifically:
STAR TREK SERIES, MOVIES SOUNDTRACKS Depository for Official Star Trek Thread
Thread link:
Thread 162444
It's true that recently, many of the original MEGA threads have been disabled. However, this thread is still (was?) active, vibrant and far from forgotten.
Besides, dead links are a common occurrence on this site. Expired links are replaced daily.
The fact is that I was attempting to get into the thread yesterday and, in cooperation w/ Spectre8750, replace many of those expired links with FLAC upgrades.
Spectre wrote me that he was unaware of this thread being taken down. What gives?
Is there any moderator or admin willing to explain this situation?

You didn't happen to have banned Material in there, like Varese or FSM, now did you ?
Also, the Staff doesn't owe you an Explanation.
Make a new Thread, and follow the Rules for "DnP" Material, and it won't get deleted.

I trust the mod had good reasons to do it, so far none of this actions were for naught.

There are several Star Trek soundtracks which were released by the FSM label, so I wouldn't be surprised if links to them were proudly displayed in the thread.
Next time you start a ST thread, omit them entirely. No "PM me for link" or "leave reply here for PM" nonsense.

all of :this: after first post.

I appreciate all the responses.
I'm sure by now that most, or every reader of this thread already knows Spectre8750. Besides being very prolific, he's also very meticulous in his postings.
This wasn't a new thread. It had been up since 2013 (?) I know because I made a .pdf of the front page.
The vast majority of uploads were GNPD Crescendo and La La Land. All banned soundtrack links were NOT posted, only the cover scans and label info.
Perhaps some new guidelines had been adopted by the Shrine or there had been complaints in the interim?
It's also possible there was no thread take down, but a server glitch or hacking incident. But how would one know w/o asking questions in hopes of finding the correct answer?
Finally, I'm aware that nobody owes me an explanation. My motivation is to contribute more in the future, so I'm seeking answers today. I was hoping to learn from Shriners who have more experience than myself, especially if it's something I overlooked. Any information learned from this experience can only make the Shrine a better place. Right?
Thanks again.

The moderator who deleted the thread was probably Leon Scott Kennedy. If you have any questions about why the thread was deleted, he'll probably have answers.

The thread has been "taken down" by me, because there were multiple Varse and FSM releases listed in its first post (the former of which can no longer be shared, neither through PM). Since I know that stuff would have still found its way around, simply because it happened to be "on display", I thought it would have been far quicker (and safer for the board) to delete the whole thing.

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your taking the time to explain the reasoning behind your decision.
I'm going to review the pdf and learn.

Yeah I would just suggest starting a new one better organized for good.

Another thing which just came to mind, sorry: be careful with bootlegs/expanded releases, those having music appearing from a series/movie which had an official release published by the likes of Varse are off limits, too.

Nothing was posted on the Star Trek Depository Thread that was against Policy. The Links that still worked were acceptable links. I wanted to restore the links I had from Mega.
The page has been up for a couple years and all of a sudden...and there were no PM statements. :)

While I agree the deletion may have been sudden, I think it's not as bad. You can now make a better organized new thread. It's not that big of a loss..

The albums+covers you had in the first post beg to differ.
Technically there were no links, true, but in case a legal representative of, or, heck, someone from Varse happened to come upon that thread, it would have looked like their stuff is still getting shared… We can't risk that.
Also, the staff members don't have to send PM (nor any notifications+explanations) with regards to their moderation-action, folks, it's more of a courtesy, make no mistake, we don't have to do that. We can do whatever we want without a reason, technically speaking (ban, edit, delete accounts/posts/threads just for the heck of it). Re-read (or actually read) the terms of service you agreed to when you created your account and refresh your memory ("owners of the board" usually refers to members of the staff). :)

And yes I'm up to date on the rules as they were when I created my account. There's many other posts with pics and text but no links. I'll wait till they're all deleted. Rules are rules.

You sound a bit childish there, heh. At any rate, when I'll spot other threads listing FSM/Varse releases, I'll delete them, too, don't worry.

Seriously, I know it's annoying, but can you just start a new better organized thread?

I plan on hosting a new thread that will contain everything in that originl thread as well as my entire personal Star Trek library. Knowledge ,art and beauty belong to the world;not to be hoarded or withheld from those who desire it.ive always hated the threads that require people to repeatedly beg the host for a link,or lock the rar files with passwords. I will do none of that. No passwords,no begging,no bullshit,

That's not wise. If it has everything the old thread did, it'll have Varese and FSM, which will see the thread swiftly deleted.

Adding to that, you'll also get banned, Pekingesejedi (if you do create that thread).

What if he just makes no mention of any FSM/Varese at all in the thread?

In case he does not share+make mention of either of them, thread can obviously stay (him, too).

But that's exactly NOT what he intends to do:
"I plan on hosting a new thread that will contain everything in that original thread"
Conservatively estimating, there are roughly 130 trek related CD's officially released (OST's, rerecordings, compilations, game soundtracks, song albums by trek actors), and after a quick count, there are exactly 34 CD's which are banned (18 Varese, 16 FSM). He would have to keep out about a quarter of what's released so far, that's miles away from calling it "everything".
