Painted this for a self-portrait thread at another board.

It's got a tonne wrong with it. The left side of my glasses is kinda fucked, the shading around the neck is clumpy and outlining the eyes was a bit ridiculous. The light-source looks rather jumbled and I'm not too happy with the shading to show the facial structure, it's a bit too outlined around the nose and lips.

Other than that is' perfect ! Roffle.

It's in acrylics with a little bit of touching up in pencil and took about 3 hours.

For the love of Moses please don't just post throwaway statements about it. If you hate it, say what would make it better, if you like it then say why. I want to get better, not absorb praise, my ego's already sufficiently large.

For reference: this is me ().

I like this drawing, but there are about three things a little disturbing. At first, the eyes. One eye is steering downwards, while the other one is looking straight into the camera. It would look a little more natural if you would let yourself look straight to the vieuwer. The next thing that disturbs is the cheekbone; you pointed it with a long grey stripe, and it makes the face too small, while you have a pretty round face (not meant to pester you). The last thing I would like to say something about is the nose. You have painted it a little too dark, I think. It looks like you've got a cold! :p
Most of times I keep the best things for last, as I do this time: i really love the grey-tone you used for this art. The blue eyes are contrasting with your skin and gives a nice effect to the whole painting. The sideway close-up gives a very good dynamic effect, well done! And last but not least: it's a good likeness.

Woah. I didn't notice the eyes ! That is a bit creepy XD!

I agree with your other comments though, the stripe bugged me as looking a bit rubbish.

Thanks for your comments, they're very helpful 'cause you don't always notice stuff yourself. :)

Never mind, thanks for thanking me :p .
About the eyes: maybe can you get the effect away if you add a little bit of black in the upper left corner of the right eye...
And I've forgotten about it the previous mail, but I apologize for my grammatical mistakes. Here at little Belgium, we usually talk Dutch or French, and I haven't got much time to improve my languages... sorry!

Bye

I think it's pretty good. The eyes are not really a problem to me. Actually sometimes a picture looks more interesting with little "mistakes" in there. ;)

But one question......is your hair that grey already?
