Now that the film soundtrack download section has been secured for the time being, I think it's time we turn our attention to other parts of the forum that are struggling.
White the drama in the downloads section escalated to a severe point, the drama in the Final Fantasy VIII forum seems to have gone even further, to the point that no one posts there at all anymore. How can we terraform this barren landscape and begin to repopulate it? Is the solution more strict moderation, and who would you nominate?
I propose it be made the exclusive domain of the person with the most passion for the section, i.e., the last person to accidentally click on it while trying to download the complete score for Final Fantasy VII.
P.S. That wouldn't be me either. I've never listened to Final Fantasy music. Also, how can there be more than one Final Fantasy? When a new one comes out, does it make the previous one Penultimate Fantasy? The one before that Ten before Midnight Fantasy? The one before that Time to Wrap the Evening Up Fantasy? The one before that Oh My, Look at the Time Fantasy?

This is well covered territory among the fandom. The creator of the series first developed the original Final Fantasy as a last ditch effort. His previous games had not been successful, and he figured he would make one last game then quit. That's where he got the name from. Then the game was a hit and he was put in the odd position of making a sequel to what was going to be his last game.

....
Hironobu Sakaguchi saved Square from going bankrupt back in the day. Originally Square was a company which made card games and hentai games. They were failing, so Sakaguchi came up with the idea for a role playing game, which if it didn't succeed, would be Square's 'Final Fantasy'. It succeeded and saved Square. Conversely, after the failure that was The Spirits Within, Sakaguchi was forced to step down as one of Squarsoft's board of directors and subsequently he left the company he saved some time after.
Regarding the topic...
The moderator of the Final Fantasy VIII subforum (as well as the majority of the rest of the Final Fantasy subforums) has done their job well. There is no need to replace them.

What drama TK? Like most of the FF section the FFVIII forum has had scant activity for ages. I do keep tabs over the FF forums as I am meant to do. But lately I have had a lot happening in my life that has been more important than worrying about whether a spambot has made a junk thread in a section few people post in, so I have not had the chance to actively mod the FF section as much as I used to, and I especially do not appreciate the insinuation that "I am not doing my job." I accepted the offer as moderator of the FF sections by Ndi and Jessie in good faith and the best intentions because I was probably the most active poster in the FF section still and despite everything still like the series. I fully intend to keep being a moderator as long as Sarah, Asa or Jessie will have me.
Having said that, I do feel that maybe it's time the FF sections were trimmed a little - maybe roll the PS1 era games together at least and the PS2, PS3 and online games as well into new sections. Ultimately this is entirely up to Sarah, Asa and Jessie to decide though, so whatever they decide to do, I trust in their decisions.

You people do realize he's not being serious and just mocking a serious thread.

It's very subtle drama, so subtle it happens without anyone even posting about it.
I don't even know who moderates those forums. I'm sure you do a fine job. This thread is for fun.

That's just dandy. I went away to write, nay craft a 4000 word essay on the subject and now I find out this is all a joke! So much for my "The Modern Era of Redundancy and Evolution of Popular Games" which will never see the light of day or the LED hum of a monitor screen. Pfffff.
