Hey Everyone, I'm thinking about getting into Old School FF so I need your guys's (errr guys's...) help.

First off which one should I buy? I know theres a GBA one, but is there also a PS one? Which one is better?

Also any other games I should get? (Not that anyone cares but I only own FF7 FF8 FF9 FFX and both the Tactics)

Thanks for any feed back.

Well if you want an easier, better graphics one, get Dawn of souls.
If you want the original with no edits and just as it should be, get Origins.

Id pick Origins.

I heard that you can play an easier version of FFI if you play it on Origins. Easy mode and Normal mode, I believe it was. I never actually played it. If you want to get the full experience of playing FFI as it was originally, then the best thing to do is to download an NES emulator and play it on that.

Are there any big changes to the orignal game in Dawn of Souls?? If so, can I ask what they are? Cuz I kinda want dawn of souls mainly because it's portable ^ ^

I just wanna know before I buy because I don't wanna get ripped off *cough FF Tactics Advanced cough*

I would go with Dawn of souls if i had a handheld. I have origins on PS1 but it is just to dated for me to like, but on handheld it would be great. I just find 1+2 hard to play when 7+ r sitting there.

Basically, Dawn of Souls took FFO and redid a lot of stats and stuff to make it easier. FF1 characters can reach level 99 and you gain access to DoS exclusive dungeons while in FF2, they fixed some leveling bugs from the original FF2 game and added a whole side quest at the end of the game.

Personally, just go for DoS if you never played FF1 or 2 before.

Alright, is it way too easy though?
I can handle a good RPG now = ) so I hope its not too easy.

Heh heh heh. IMO, DOS is way too easy. Many people would disagree with me, but the fact that they put the regular MP system in made it ridiculous. Part of the main challenge in FFI was that you could only use 3 lv6 spells in a dungeon. I would say for you to get a version as close to the original NES version as possible, because it gives you the true experience of FFI.

It's not TOO easy. When placed next to the original FF1 game though, it does seem extremely easy. However, the DoS version is geared to those who never played the original FF games. I, personally, have never gone through the original FF1 game all at one time, mostly because it was god forsakeningly slow and when I had other games at my disposal, there was no point in continuing in FF1. This is actually the first version I actually sat down and wanted to complete.

Now FFO, it does reflect the old game better and you can put rules to reflect on the version (Disable Run/Disable Auto Target/etc). But DoS does offer new things to the table. Just get DoS, if you want to play the game the way it was meant to be played, get an Emulator and play the NES version. FFO does feature some FMV openings and a better soundtrack but otherwise you're getting more bang for the buck on DoS.

So yea I got DoS and Im a little disapointed,

Ok in the origanl FF2 aren't you Cecil, ther Dark Knight? and don't you get Cain as your ally? I only played ff2 for like a few min but still. Did they totally change it like they did with final fantasy tactics and Final Fantasy tactics Advaced??

I guess I don't have a right to be disapointed as I haven't really quite played it yet but still, I know I saw a dark knight named Cecil ^ ^

*shakes head* I'm amazed that people still don't know the deal with FFII and FFIII...

Ok, here's how it works. Originally, FFII was never released in the United States. Neither was FFIII. So, when FFIV, which was released in the US, came out, it was called FFII in the US because FFII and FFIII hadn't been released in the US. After FFIV, FFV was not released in the US either, thus FFVI was what became known as FFIII. Only at FFVII did Square finally synchronise it. The game with Cecil is FFIV, but it was released in the US as FFII, thus the confusion.

You are playing FFII, which wasn't released in the US until FF Origins came out.
