Don't worry, your hopes will be ruined. Nintendo has plans on the sequels and some new games and new stuff to re awaken the pokmon craze.. if you may believe Nintendo magazines.. that is... ;_;
But I somewhat agree... the craze.. seems to be calming down bigtime.. which is good ;)

Maybe the pokemon fans have just moved on. Who knows, maybe they've become interested in anime, and eventually found some good stuff and became real Otakus. The only reason pokemon was so huge is because it was the only anime around. I, for one, am thankful for the pokemon craze. If it weren't for the pokemon craze, we wouldn't have so much anime in north america.

Even if Nintendo do release new stuff, I don't think it would help. It was the cartoon and card game that made the kids love it, more than the computer game.
They even tried releasing new cards...but still, it did nothing. So I'd say it is dying, quite quickly too.

The problem with anything thats pokemon is repetition. The sequels for the gameboy games were only good if you love the pokemon formula and don't want anything thats actually changed, or something thats new and original. The stadium games for N64 were worthless to people who don't have the gb games, and the cartoon's plot moves slower then a granny riding a tortoise.

This is what happens when you milk a fad and forget to put in things that will attract new fans, because the old ones won't be interested forever.

Yes Pokemon is not as popular as it once was before. I hate to admit this in public, but when Pokemon first came out I liked the game. The cards were addictive also, never really cared for the movie and the television show tho.

Hey, Pokemon was alright in the first few episodes and the first few games. The card game was not the best but it was interesting before little kids got all crazy about it because of the pretty pictures...most of them didn't even know how to play.

They could release the original pokeman with all the same pokemon, and just change the colors and children all over North America would buy it. It hate to admit it, but I liked pokemon when it first came out, yest that may sound sad, but its true (I was in grade 7), now I hate it, but I am thankful because it got me into anime. (Since most North America Anime sucks I download all mine subtitled of StreamLoad), so if Nintendo does release a new pokemon game and of coarse they will the craze will once again return. AHHHH WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!

No, I don't believe it is over. My little cousin is obsessed with the yellow blob. I don't think Pokemon is nearly as bad as Elmo. ^^

03-21-2002, 04:47 AM
I doubt it my cousin gets those cards and categorizes them and logs each one by number into a laptop and then puts them in order in a sports card protector in a 2" binder that is almost full of the things. When he stops doing that i know for certain the craze is over.

Pokemon ISN'T Dead yet. It's actually still popular where I'm at. Ever hear of the actual "Pokemon League" people? Yes? No? Well I run the Pokemon League and Tournaments here in my little home town, down at the Game Store. Yes, I'm a Pokemon Gym Leader and proud of it! :D The only kids that have moved on were the ones who were not really interested in the first place. We've got a surprising turnout! Every Saterday. We're actually thinking about adding an extra day for the league a Week. A plus side that you guys may like is that they've been fully converted into liking all the good Anime. By a few of my friends and myself too of course. There is a big screen TV in the gamestore and we blast all the cool Anime's you have to buy at Suncoast because Cartoon Network doesn't air them. Funny thing is from doing this we're drawing a large crowd of Anime lovers and converting them to Pokemon as well! Look Pokemon isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's cute which is why people bash it. Barney and Telitubbies I can see bashing. I actually liked the cartoon because Team Rocket is soooo funny. My little Nephew got me addicted and darn it I've got all the cards from every set and I've earned all the actual Badges from the League. I'm only having fun with it and the kids love it. So I see no harm in the game and franchise at all. The Fad portion is dead thank God. But, Pokemon isn't.

I don't think pokemon is as bad as some people say... after all, I own the original game, and it's pretty fun. But nintendo really overdid it with the merchandise and pikachu, & I never really liked the anime...

all in all, I'd say the pokemon craze is over =\

Oh yeah, a real magnet to little kids isn't it?
I read about these articles where some Japanese kids end up in hospital after watching just 1 episode!!! It really is a shame.:notgood:
When I first saw it in an advert I thought aww that yellow thing's kinda cute. Then my sis started to get 'into' it! God, I wish I changed the channel that day:(

They were colourful, there were lots of them, and they cost money, of course they were gonna be a craze :D But now that the generation has outgrown them the new generation doesnt see them as anything new. THeyve been around for a while. thus is the fate of a craze. I believe they released something a 100 new pokemon to try and help rekindle the craze. Aint gonna happen....

Angel Aeris
04-18-2002, 02:43 PM
I hope it is, but it will come back one day, when we last expect it to happen...:D

Sorry couldn't resist. But seriously, they probably bring it back to the light...

When Pokemon first came out, it was Ok to me, some of them were cute. I watched the TV series couble of times with my 7-years old cousin. I didn't get it much myself but he was sooooooo
in love with it. Explained to me the whole history of Pikatchu and there was millions of terms and words and names I didn't understand.
Then he went crazy and it was all Pokemon this, Pokemon that, and in the markets there was everywhere big yellow signs who all scream 'Pokemon'!!! Then it snapped. I couldn't stand it anymore...

Right now, my cousin's not that crazy to Pokemon anymore but his life is around Digimon... Pokemon, Digimon, I don't even know what's the difference...

It's defintiely not over because they are building actual Pokemon stores in New York. Just weakend a little I guess. Those who hate the series, don't get your hopes up just yet, though. Nintendo is planning to make a new game for the GBA. Plans are still unclear about the future of the game on the GameCube, though.

Well... I know someone who's older than me and is obssessed with Pokemon. I started disliking it after the first movie.... and wasn't really into it that much... just collected cards with cute pictures ^_____^ and played the games when I was a Fifth Grader. Now, Pokemon is just.... bleh. That old thing.

I have no idea if Pokemon craze is completely gone, but I believe that the craze is losing it's steam. I haven't heard lots about Pokemon lately. Mainly, I hear about Pokemon from my little cousins. Now, they talk about other shows. Just like those Virtual Pets...haven't heard those annoying beeps since 6th grade.

Like venom spit from the cobras mouth into the eyes of all who read this post.......... damn.

The point was made that the poke' gen has grown up and moved on. I agree.

Poke'mon is considered one of those gateway animes. It gets plenty of fans into the fold and then they move on to better and greater things.

Of course this doesn't mean poke'mon will disappear, there will always be young folk drawn into either the simple and kiddie plot of the anime or drawn into playing cards by equally obsessed friends.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of the yellow and black tailed electro rat either.
