I'm using Aimp, because its fast to launch, it support FLAC and the interface is really cool, i'm not an audiophile so even if something such as Foobar is better than Aimp, it doesn't really make big differences.
And you, which audio player are you using ?

Since I use a dac + amp + senn hd800 plugged on my pc, I have stopped to use my hi-end system (rotel flagship / b&w800 D2 serie), I use my system only for home theater.
My headphone is amazing and I can hear at the volume I want, the sound is so good and I feel the bass like a subwoofer because this headphone can really reproduce low frequency.

PonyoBellanote
08-23-2016, 05:22 PM
Because I simply like it. I use it for everything. I like having the cone as the icon for FLAC music. I like having it as a player because the cover of the album is displayed amazingly.
I don't listen to music like you would with iTunes; I have a HDD with folders, I store my music in folders, not in a music player, so it's convenient to me to use VLC.

VLC is the best way how I hear my music, all my albums are in separate folder and by label, I don't use music library anymore, only media player as library for movie, but not for music.
Btw I hate Itunes and Apple :-)
My HDD organization(all albums are tagged with the cover who is displayed permanently in VLC) :

I like iTunes' thingie of doing covers with colourful tracklist fitting them, but I hate how you have to convert to ALAC, lack cues, log, etc, scans, and most importantly, how you have to have everything double.
I like storing my music in folders, without having to add them again a second time (the same files) to have them on iTunes.

For me a player who can't play FLAC is not possible, seriously, ALAC even it's the same quality , I will never convert all my FLAC to ALAC, I want to keep the control on my tracks (120'000 tracks actually) so Apple never!

Despite having become a bloated app, iTunes satisfies my aesthetic and organizational requirements. Besides, there are no viable alternatives as far as those I've downloaded and tried. Then there's Metadatics for speedier tagging, and for those times when I just want a quick drag and drop listen of FLAC files that I've either just downloaded or am in the midst of editing, I use Cog.

hearing music locally VLC is more powerful.
Actually, they're really the same.
Only difference would be what programs support things like AISO drivers for further fidelity.
Most of these players do.
Some of these are very customizable, too.
But nothing is more "powerful" over another player when they're all the same.
Except if you use different drivers then that's neither here nor there and a completely different topic altogether.
More "magical" over WMP? Everything is better than WMP.

Like Dave, I'm everything Apple. iTunes on my MacBook Pro, iOS on my iPhone. I love the organization of iTunes and the album view (which has been taken away in iTunes 12.5 with the new MacOS, same as iOS 10, to which I will NOT be updating to), same with the iPhone. Gorgeous coloring. Can't say what I'd use if I didn't have an iOS device - but I've had one since 2005. My first, cute little silver 4GB iPod mini :)

While they have improved speed issues considerably in the past couple years, iTunes Achilles heel from the beginning is its reliance on an XML file for data storage instead of a bona fide database such as MySQL. Of course, the reason for the XML file is to facilitate easy content exchange within its app ecosystem. But the BIG, BIG problem with using an XML file is the whole damn thing gets rewritten with each and every change made in iTunes, hence the resulting lag time with/without beachballs.

Must be delightful to utilize that amount of storage. That right there is a little more or less than half of my whole library.
It's a bit (okay, maybe very) difficult to make do with 16 GB of storage (might as fucking well be 12 GB), but it's what I got now, so be it. :p

Quick question; Ive been used to Vox Media Player as it had pitch/tone control, but nowadays the newer versions has a log-in feature that limits the use of equalizer, tone/pitch control is gone as far as I'm concerned. Im just using this for offline use, so I see no point in logging in to use a program. Dont know why they require log-in to begin with..
Also, I use VLC just for video.
Is there a media player out there that has the same interface with pitch/tone control that someone here can recommend?
