For some strange reason, I prefer music without lyrics. Reason being is that whenever I listen to music with lyrics, it sounds so corny and makes me think that the singer has gone AWOL and EMO all over the place. No offense to people who like lyrics in their music. I just find it weird for me thats all.
Music without lyrics however, is what I like to listen. It enables me to open up my mind while I'm relaxing or doing anything productive in the kitchen or elsewhere. Kitchen you say? I'm a cook just so you know.
So do you guys prefer music w/ or w/o lyrics?
I know exactly what you mean and I see things the same way. I usually prefer music with lyrics that I can't understand or none at all.

I prefer music that doesn't have lyrics only when I am doing something where I have to concentrate, else I prefer to have lyrics.
I listen to music without lyrics when I'm trying to sleep (or when I'm in a store), but otherwise, all the music I listen to has lyrics.

I prefer songs with lyrics. It adds more of an affect if the song is really dramatic. But some music without lyrics is nice too.

i need words. when there arent words i get sleepy because my imagination runs rampant. i cant concentrate on anything else if their arent lyrics.

Depends on what I'm listening to.
Hell's Kitchen by DT has no lyrics, but I love it.
A Question of Time by Depeche Mode does.
They are both great.
Most of the time I like it to have lyrics (even if I can't understand them, it makes a huge difference to me whether or not they're there), but purely instrumental stuff certainly has its place. It's all about mood, which is the case with just about anything. I don't listen to Los Crudos when I'm trying to go to sleep, and I don't listen to Final Fantasy soundtracks when I'm feeling energetic, either.

i saw this amazing pianist today and so i sat through 2 and half hours of classic pieces. needless to say i got very tired. although i loved it, when i went to the ballet the other day it also made me really tired. i have to have words. =/

I'm definitely into the lyrics. It irks me if a song has lyrics that just seem like filler, stuff that just happens to rhyme, or has trite emo stuff. But quality lyrics can make the song.
Of course, instrumental music has its place too. I'd prefer a decent instrumental song to a song with dodgy lyrics or irritating vocals.
