Shomuni (Season 2 and Season 4)
"Shomuni" was a long-running dra-medy series for TV that followed a group of female workers at a large corporation. Although their particular jobs were menial, like changing light bulbs and cleaning bathrooms, they were also good workers and proud of what they did, which is reflected in Oshima's upbeat music for the series. The music for Season 2 is a potpourri of bouncy marches, rhumbas, brassy blues and her signature piano solos. By Season 4 the gals were truly groovin', as "Shomuni 2013" has more of a pop-funk sound, although Oshima manages to toss in an exotic snake-charming tune too.
Shomuni Season 1: 12 episodes from 1998 with music by Oshima. This score was already shared here at FFS.
Shomuni Season 2: 11 episodes from 2000 with music by Oshima. Not previously shared here at FFS, so here it is! 14 Tracks on Pony Canyon PCCR-80001. Released in 2000.
Shomuni Season 3 (AKA "Final"): The series ended with 12 episodes in 2002, with music by Oshima. Already shared here at FFS.
Shomuni Season 4 (AKA "2013"): The series returned for 10 episodes in 2013. I recall having seen this shared at FFS, but my recent search could not find it so I am offering it again. My apologies if it is still here somewhere. 16 tracks on Pony Canyon PCCR-00571. Released in 2013.
Confusion department: The ladies work in a section called General Affairs 2, which is what Shomuni means (in Japanese ni = 2). So you might have seen Shomuni also spelled as Shomu2. Season 2 would then be Shomu2 2!
