NOTES
In May of 1938, one evening over the NBC Radio Network, Warner Brothers broadcast the rousing score for their newly minted soon-to-be-classic, The Adventures Of Robin Hood, in the form of a symphonic suite conducted by composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold, with accompanied narration by Sir Guy of Gisborne himself, Basil Rathbone. This is a recording of that event, in a time before motion picture soundtracks were a business unto themselves. This score would win Korngold a second Oscar.
As an added bonus, Requiem For A Cavalier, a radio documentary on Errol Flynn is included. Originally produced in 1968 for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, with interviews conducted by Hollywood historian Tony Thomas, with excerpts from Flynn’s greatest movies.
It should also be noted that as a period recording, the quality is less than stellar. Still, it's worth the download, if merely to add to your Korngold or Flynn collection. Enjoy!!
