This is the LP presentation of Bruce Broughton's masterful score. It has never been released on CD in this form and before the first complete version was released on CD I made a transfer of this LP and restored it in a labor of love and patience.
Like my Rzsa-RPO project this was before 24bit soundcards so my work was done just in that sonic realm.
Im still proud of the result and sometimes actually prefer this version because the pieces to represent the score have been well chosen and are a great listening experience while I sometimes think the complete version is a bit boring depending on my mood.
I hope you enjoy the transfer and let me know what you think.
Sorry no covers for this one.

Track List:
01: Main Title 2:02
02: Solving The Crime 4:56
03: Library Love - Waxflatter's First Flight 2:28
04: Pastries and Crypts 5:48
05: Waxing Elizabeth 3:39
06: Holmes and Elizabeth (Love Theme) 1:59
07: Ehtar's Escape 4:05
08: The Final Duel 3:55
09: Final Farewell 1:57
10: The Riddles Solved - End Credits 6:47

Hello,
thank you very much for your restoration work of the YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES LP.
The LP representation and track sequence is indeed well chosen for the best listening experience.
The music just has the right flow throughout to be enjoyed at maximum.
The complete score presentation - although complete - does not have that specific flow
and as a matter of that feels often "interrupted" and "choped off" with no flowing of the music themes at all.
But this does not mean that the complete score presentation is bad - it also can be immensely enjoyed - just in a different way.

I had a copy of an imported US LP a friend sent me to do the transfer. But youre right. Great cover indeed!

I agree. I do love the whole score. The LP is just a perfect "Best Of" when you dont want to listen to the whole work. Ive noticed that about Broughton's album versions. He usually picks just the right pieces and the right amount of music.

That's one of my most favorite scores since it's release in the 80's, and I have the (german) LP and the extended Intrada CDs.
Thanks to Bluemax, now I can add this wonderful restored LP-transfer to my collection!
I'm just listening to it and what I hear so far, you've done an excellent job!!! Thank you very much for sharing this with us! :)

Thank you for this lovely share. This score was one of my favourites as a kid too, the LP sounded great and like you said showcased the best elements. Just recently I secretly mused at what kind of score he could have created for Rogue One had he been offered the chance. I would love for him to be back on major features again. I know he is 'old school' but don't we all miss that level of craft in today's scores!

I managed to find a few sources (lower resolution unfortunately) to re-create (or re-imagine) the German LP cover.

It will look better in ITunes than it does all blown up like below though (ahem, ahem, top-of-the-head-all-chopped-up), you've been warned :)

Great to see old LP's brought back to life, and to see some more members ripping. Great sound too. The only minor technical issue is that the channels seem to be reversed (ie. strings on the right, brass on the left). This is easily fixed though.

I have both the European and North American versions of the LP but sadly both are in pretty bad shape compared with your amazing restoration. Sounds almost as good as the expanded version.

Congrats and thanks a lot!
