I'm thinking of buying a new guitar but i can't decide between quality or looks.
The usual Ibanez type have an excelent sound and are easy to play solos but i like the explorer or bc rich type guitars with fantastic shape but very hard to play solos and not the best quality iykwim.

I'd say that you shouldn't settle. Find exactly what you want and don't take any less. Even if it takes longer and you have to pay more, you won't regret it in the long run.

Don't get one of those oddly-shaped monstrosities, you will regret it. imo those things look pretty fucking stupid anyway. If you want affordability and quality, check out the ESP brand. I'd be willing to bet you will find what you are looking for there.

But like Prak said, try everything. Go to every local music store you can possibly find and try playing every guitar you think you might possibly want. Find the one that feels like home.

Quality, definately. I have a BC Rich V, they look nice n' all and play well enough for the price, but you can find guitars that are a hell of a lot better. Make sure you get a good try of one before buying. Go to a music store and try a wide range of guitars (flash some money or they'll probably kick you out after a while ;)). Get the feel for each guitar. Don't dive straight into distortion, play it clean to get an idea of the sound and tone.

What price range are you looking at?

Well i thought about some ESP star model (james hetfield style), and check this out www.music123.com. What do you think how much would it cost to deliver it to S-E europe???

If you want an ESP, don't get one from the LTD series.

This (http://www.music123.com/Ibanez-RG7321-i27059.music) is pretty damn good.

What's wrong with the LTDs? I've played a couple, and they seemed pretty nice from the quick impression I got.

I'll use it mostly for fast riffing, however i'll sometimes want to throw in a wild solo so it comes to: bc-rich warlock(or beast if i ever get the money), gibson explorer, some esp star model(or the V type), and some washburn(like dime's guitars).
Whatever guitar i choose, i'll probably switch it in about 3-5 years so i don't matter if it isn't the best. And i think playing on a rough guitar makes you fly when u take some smooth one like ibanez.

Yeah, really. What do you find wrong with the LTDs, Kuro?

The few I've heard and played on were pretty damn awesome.

The Warlock is great, Mick from Slipknot uses them, he also uses Ibanez, his new one looks awesome.

Not saying they're crap, but when one of my friends and I tried the EX and Viper, we were none too impressed. The sound and tone we got from them were a bit iffy and personally, I didn't really like the feel of them. Now, it could have just been a faulty guitar or somethin', if anyone has one, give us your thoughts. But you gotta admit, the LTD Standards ain't nothing compared to the Standards =D I'm actually torn between an ESP M-II and a Ibanez RG for my next guitar.
