CARMINA BURANA - Eugene Ormandy - Philadelphia Orchestra [RM FLAC]

There have been several versions of Carmina Burana posted recently. I wanted to share one that I love.

Eugene Ormandy leads the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Rutgers University Choir, with Janice Harsanyi (soprano), Rudolf Petrak (tenor), and Harve Presnell (baritone).

Movie fans will remember Presnell as Rotten Luck Willie in Paint Your Wagon (turning in a rousing version of "They Call the Wind Maria"), William H. Macy's cranky dad in Fargo, Doctor Howard in The Whole Wide World, and John Travolta's FBI boss in Face/Off, as well as many other fine performances.

This album was originally one of the Columbia Great Performances series. This is the remastered version released in 1991. Includes artwork, and the original Columbia cover.

Once these links go down, they're down, so grab it while you can. Feel free to mirror or repost to keep it going.

Enjoy!

Nice share, thanks. (Even though I already have it. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42753709/Photobucket/biggrin1.gif Gave reputation as well. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42753709/Photobucket/nod.gif )

You guys that have been downloading the Thomas-Cleveland version (in another thread) and this Ormandy-Philadelphia version really need to compare them with the Levine-Chicago recording, which is available (without having to mess with PMs) in this thread...

Thread 204130

Go ahead and get the others (Thomas-Cleveland & Ormandy-Philadelphia), of course, so you can compare them side-by-side with the Levine-Chicago and form your own conclusions.

Phideas1 says in his thread header that the Thomas-Cleveland is supposedly the best, but I don't necessarily agree. (If I did, then I would have already uploaded it instead of the Levine-Chicago, because I already have it in my collection.)

(And just for the record, please notice that I am encouraging you to get the Philadelphia and Cleveland recordings. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42753709/Photobucket/nod.gif )
