So what's this about FFShrine being hacked into and our information being taken? I just checked a website to check and see if my email address was compromised and it was and it listed where the breach came from and it showed FFShrine. Did this really happen, and if it did why weren't we notified?

This site is notorious for being hacked (which is happening far too often now... but never (or at least very rarely) back BEFORE the download section was added)... what site did you use to check your email being compromised?

The "information dump" actually happened not too long ago, there was a Sticky thread suggesting users to change passwords (Thread 194166) and maybe e-mail addresses. Don't know about any e-mails sent by the administration when it happened, personally, but that could be because I've disabled them in the control panel.

The website I used to check is haveibeenpwned.com. I didn't disable my email notifications. I was trying to find an email I got from here a while ago saying someone tried to hack into my account here. The website said the breach happened in September of last year and I wanted to double check that email to see if it was around the same time. I'm just concerned of course.

I guess I'm lucky to not be affected by this then (I also don't use the same password on every forum and website I'm on, so that helps keeping me a bit safer too).

A "breach" is an incident where a site's data has been illegally accessed by hackers and then released publicly. Review the types of data that were compromised (email addresses, passwords, credit cards etc.) and take appropriate action, such as changing passwords.

Final Fantasy Shrine: In September 2015, the Final Fantasy discussion forum known as FFShrine was breached and the data dumped publicly. Approximately 620k records were released containing email addresses, IP addresses and salted hashes of passwords.

Compromised data: Email addresses, Passwords, Usernames, Website activity

Good thing I changed my password when it was stated earlier...

Still... I have multiple email accounts and the one I use here... is merely one of them.

So that's why I tried logging into the forum as LDEJRuff earlier and failed. Someone hacked into my account and changed my password. They will pay dearly.

You're wrong on that account. That particular error is related to a recent issue with the forum's database: every user found him/herself unable to login and forced to reset/change password. It's something that affected everyone.
