I heard that this game doesent work on the PS2. I read this in an article a while back and some of my friends told me it was true. I dont have my regular PS anymore, so I wouldnt be able to play this game if that rumour is true.:(

You can play it on a PS2, my copy works fine. Sometimes when you want to save, it glitches, so just get out of the screen and try again.

All original Playstation games are supposed to work fine on a PS2. I've been playing Anthology on my PS2 for a long-time now and never experienced the saving glitch that chorns is describing. I have had an annoying glitch a few times with FFVI where it would freeze up after being on Pause for an extended period of time. Also --- you wanna watch out for the Memo feature --- it works quite nicely, but you wanna be careful to make an actual "hard" save every so often.

I think my disc is faulty or something, it might be my memory card, it happens to all my Final Fantasy saves and I have one memory card with all my ff saves on it.

FF Anthology appeared on Sony's List of games that don't work properly on the PS2...

... However, the only problem is that when you go to the save screen on FFV. You just need to memorize where all the options are when you save your FFV game, other than that, no problem at all.

That might be it.

Sorry, what's supposed to be the problem with FFV saves? I only played that one for a short while before I ditched it for FFVI (I've played it before, non-Anthology version and do eventually plan to come back to it.) but I had no problems whatsoever with saving while I was playing it.

Hmm, that's possible. I have the "Greatest Hits" version, so maybe these problems were fixed in that version.

No, my Greatest Hits version screws up too much to be that.

It happens usually when you hit the save menu twice within a session and the PS2 doesn't need to have Quickloading/Texture smoothing on either.

I do that all the time and I've never experienced any save glitches. Guess I'm just lucky, or maybe it has something to do with that Quickloading/Texture stuff, which I've never messed with.

The only problem that I had with my copy of FFA is the frame rate slowdown. I would be in the middle of battle and I would confirm a command, and then the frame rate would nearly stop and the game would almost crash. The music would slow down and the sprites would move extremely slow. Did any of you guys have this problem? By the way, I own the Greatest Hits copy and I play it on my PS2.....

The PS2 has problems playing FFA, but the PSOne doesn't...? Weird...

Not really all that weird. The Final Fantasy Anthology was developed for the original Playstation, therefore, that's the system it's most compatible with and not really all that surprising that it might have some glitches on the PS2. Although I must be really lucky or something, except for the Pause glitch that I mentioned, I haven't had any of the problems everyone else has been describing.

True, it was developed for the PSOne but the PS2 is supposed to play PSOne games just "fine". But problems like these always seem to surface occasionally, depending on the game. Guess you can't do anything about it, really. But the frame rate slowdown is really annoying.... It happens to me at least once every battle or so. Sometimes it's so bad that the game starts to crash.... In fact, it did crash on me once! You're lucky you don't have this problem with your copy, Agent!
