Hey I heard that squaresoft and Nintendo were going to release Final Fantasy 3 (the one that was not released in the US) for the DS and it would offically come to the states and it would be programmed specially for the dual screens and things and I just wanted to know if anyone else heard this and if it were true?

actually the rate of it hitting us markets is 50/50 because nothing is confirmed yet. and i believe final fantasy 3 did hit us markets before cause i have played it on the super nintendo.
*sigh* This gets explained at least once every couple of days, but I guess I'll oblige.
The Final Fantasy III that was released for SNES in America was really Final Fantasy VI. The one originally released in the U.S. as FFII was really FFIV. Got it? Good. kthxbye.

I still don't think I'm gonna get it cause I already have the original for the NES, but then again, it would be fun to play it on a portable system.

What is FF3 like? I never got to play it, it was never released in New Zealand. So I am curious about it.

I guess the best way to describe it is a mix of FFI and FFV, there's alot of class types to pick from and of course battle is similar to FFI & II. Have fun trying to get a whole party full of Fully Equipped Onion Knights(You start out with a regular one).

Yeah I got it for an emulator but I'm not that far in it. But out of the three originals I've got to say it's the hardest so far. But I also heard that square was gonna make the story a little more involving and give the charaters names is that true or just a rumor?

When they released the American FF into t he states, the numbers were all messed up....like Prak said, and I wonder why they would want FFIII on the DS instead of the PSP (i heard the PSP was crap anyway......its not even released though O_o?)

I honestly really like how people say "heard"
But Final Fantasy 3 is coming out to the DS... why? Maybe because having Final Fantasy 3 on the PSP is forcing people to buy even more systems to get the whole series. Unlikely though, maybe because they thought Final Fantasy 3 is a simple game that they didn't want to change drastically and maybe they have something for that touch screen. Probably have menus lined up on the bottom screen with action going in on top.

if they were smart they could just make it for the ps2 no?

No... that would be a waste. Considering that re-releases intentions are to stay close to the original but at least updated to modern graphics, making it on the PS2 would really be a waste because they would have to add a lot of things to make it worth the bang.
And with Final Fantasy I&II already out on a Nintendo Handheld System, it would probably make better sense to put it on a Nintendo Handheld System, as the DS would have access to all three games.

Not everyone has a PS2, not everyone has an Xbox, not everyone has a Gamecube, not everyone has a GBA...
What's your point? :3

Final Fantasy III is going to be considerable different from the others and from it's original version cuz of the touch screen and dual screen function. Actually I would like to see it in ps2 in a remake along with ff1&2 that includes the new dungeons (not the ff origins).
I am sure square will make it in ps2 or 3 because they plan to release one game per month, they will have to make a lot of re-releases or colections
