That's not a bad card at all; a pretty good one, I think. I may have already told you, but I'm getting a GTX 950 2GB, very excited. From a 9600 GT (an overheated one, at least) to a GTX 950 will be like night and day.

You will really enjoy that.

I've been thinking of upgrading to at least that.
Any little extra advantage will help a lot.

I might have to replace my power source though. I can't imagine it will run forever.

I still have a Zotac GTX 650 from before I upgraded to the GTX 705ti. That was a huge difference in itself.

It's weird, because the difference between a GTX 950 and 960 isn't that much, but between a 960 and 970 is more of a difference. :p

The rise in power from card to card as they go is not always consistent. :p

You'll definitely want to switch to MPC-HC with LAV Filters and MadVR for movie watching.

DXVA2 copy-back is what's taking over the world.

NVidia has slowed down CUDA maintenance and might even just be dropping it in favor of pure gaming updates.
A lot of devs are running out of options as far as HWA is concerned.

I absolutely LOVE that game's score. One of my favorite tracks, is Boldmen City (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPGSW0xZ-0U) (I think it's "Boldmen" on yours)

The track represents very well the brutality the Russians showed in the war (maybe the other way around, also?). A lot of tracks do, I think. The game and the music is much darker and more realistic than other World War II games.

Thats my favourite too. You see I have it hearted. You are right, it's one of the only tracks that actually seems to signify the sheer brutality of the war.
I remember that track playing (0:16, specifically (https://youtu.be/LPGSW0xZ-0U?t=16s)) during the level Eviction, accompanied by the planes and tankes spewing explosions on the streets underneath a thunderstorm, skyscrapers falling down, and at the same time you are one man who has to fire at other people, ignoring everything else that is happening. One of the best scenes in the game, accompanied by one of the best songs.

It's also my favourite game to date in the Call of Duty franchise. This particular game really, really captures the feel of World War II and what it was like. It doesn't have any of that tacky futuristic sci-fi shit they have nowadays.

Do you have it on Steam? We should play it together some day.

CLONEMASTER 6.53

That is one of the best parts in the game. There's something about not only that scene, but about the whole game that other World War II games just don't have; partially because it was one of the last ones made.

I think part of it is the relationship that Reznov and Petrenko have that really makes you feel for the game. You stand with Reznov throughout the whole war, all the way he stands by you, cheers you on, helps you through the hell that the war is.

The American campaign wasn't as strong but unique in its own way. It shows that there is no friends nor favours in the war, with your teammates, although still caring, not as much so as Reznov is.

CLONEMASTER 6.53
03-29-2016, 11:53 PM
Yep, I think that's a part of it also. And I like how the Russian story sort of continues into Black Ops and Black Ops II.
Then, it was about revenge for what Kravchenko, Dragovich, and Steiner did to them; the death of Dimitri, how they were betrayed, etc. -"Dragovich... Kravchenko... Steiner... All must die."

As for the American campaign, it was unique in general (the music is also still awesome), but it was also the only Pacific campaign in the whole series, which I wish was not the case.

At least the Medal of Honor series covers the Pacific campaign of the war much more.

Those levels still remain my favourite in those games. They continued the story very well, just like they did with Price.

BoS was good.
Spielberg's gang make it fun.

Some really old school film making in that movie.
I have not watched with the commentary or anything, but I imagine Spielberg told that old guy he must never be motionless for too long. Save the stillness for pertinent scenes. So to fill up the static, touch your nose with your napkin, like old man habit.

For Wes Craven and Scream, there was a scene where David Arquette and the sheriff were talking outside a mom and pop ice cream parlor and he instructed "Dewey" to take a hit of his ice cream every time the sheriff took a hit of his cigar.
It's nothing that conventional or serves any real purpose. But for the sake of film making, it's something you don't notice right away but the imagery sticks with you.
It's a subtle influence.

WAY more screenshots coming soon.
With comparisons to the retail bluray, where they cropped the IMAX scenes to fit inside 16:9 widescreen.

TDK and TDKR blurays had cropped IMAX scenes to 1.78:1 to fill the entire 1920x1080 screen for people who bought those types of TV's (because they feel ripped off and go against the director's wishes).

Frame synched the movie.

Overlay/forground, the Ultimate Collector's Edition bonus disc. Uncropped, original IMAX aspect ratio: 1.43:1 for... posterity.

He's still involved. But a lot of composers are also involved.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmos:_A_Personal_Voyage#Music_of_Cosmos

The DVD has a "music and effects" track.
So far, episode 1, the effects comes from sequences involving modern society with no music.

The show also seems to be nicely mixed with just Sagan talking in the center channel.

Alpha transparent backgrounds instead of black matte.
Overlay spectrums and waveforms onto cover art.
Maybe double the cover art. Largest size first, blur to 75%. Then a smaller one on top that's blurred to 15%. Maybe 7%, depending on the blur type. Just enough to see it but not enough that it's distracting.

Everybody who listens to movie music should have a listen to "Seid Nuchtern und Wachet: VII. Es Geschah" at least once in their lifetime.

Not trying to be insulting or offensive, it's just what I naturally think of - it's unfortunate. Germany's role in WWII and Hans Zimmer.

I wonder what Germans (or anyone else) think of Americans. I know one user here who is not fond of them, but we don't need to get into that.

I know. I would rather it not be this way. It's sort of how you (us in general) are taught, maybe.

This version sung in Russian (Schnittke's birthplace) instead for the Teutophobes amongst us, but the prior rendition sung in German is much, much better.

"This is the "Faust Cantata," a tour de force narration of Faust's descent into hell. In an inspired anachronism, Mr. Schnittke casts the climax in the form of a diabolically melodious tango, with a contralto croaking in Brechtian style into a microphone and an electric guitar thundering underneath. He then retreats to chilling medievalisms for the admonitory epilogue. No Goethean redemption here: Faust's is a lurid life that ends badly." — Alex Ross

And the opera, composed later:

As someone whose parents and relatives are German, let me offer this handy equation:

German ≠ Nazi.

BTW, Hitler was Austrian, not German.

Yep. Braunau am Inn, Austria; which was actually Austria-Hungary at the time.
It's right around the border of Germany, so I'm not surprised that's where he went so soon.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the language of Austria is German, and I think the only difference between Germany and Austria in this field is the accent.

It's been a little while since I've listened to this album all the way through.

"After the Drop" and "Arnhem" still remain among my favorites by Michael Giacchino.

"Nuit d'ivresse et d'extase infinie!", a haunting love duet, concludes with a marvellous bit of grand Herrmannesque music depicting the appearance of the god Mercury who blasts the hero's shield.

German is the language of Austria and also part of Switzerland.

You want to start a fight, tell a German he's the same as an Austrian. Or vice versa.

That reminds me, I just got all of Monty Python's Flying Circus. I've been too swamped in other things lately that I never had time to check it all out.
I just had a couple of the major motion pictures (Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and The Meaning of Life) plus the 'best of' DVD: "And Now For Something Completely Different" which is really just a remake? :erm: Wiki says it was filmed without a live audience to introduce it to the Americas.

About to start listening to the end credits for The Revenant. It's 7.1. Not Dolby Atmos nor DTS:X.
News release doesn't say anything about a fancy 7.1. Just regular 7.1.

I hope it doesn't have a 'strange setup' for the channel mapping when they mixed it.

Bay's Transformer movies keep getting longer and longer but with less and less content.

Honestly, ditch the stupid humans and focus on the 'bots.
