Get into alot of random battles and try to get a couple ninjas and calculators as fast as you can(maybe a samurai too). Use accumulate to get mass amounts of JP in no time.

You could get some Monks they have strong attacks, also Knights can take damage, and if you get the ninjas and the dual wield ability thingy then change back to Knight, You will be good to go.

I forgot to say get a Black Mage/Calculator combo, works really well if you can figure out how. That and if you can get two blood swords on Ramza(or whatever you named the main character) and get the ninja ability two swords, then you'll be rolling along nicely, also get a monk and master the job, that'll help, Hamedo works great on human enemies.

Once I got Orlandu, Worker 8, and a Calculator who could CT-5 Holy, I never lost a single battle. :/

me neither, that's what I love about the Calculator! and I think Orlandu is a bit too powerful for his own good(but that's a good thing).

Yeah.
There's nothing quite as fun as nuking everything with Holy on the first turn, having Orlandu absorb the attack ('cause of the sword he started with) and Worker 8 is immune to it... the rest of your party dies, but it doesn't matter, 'cause most mobs are weakened enough for an overpowered Orlandu to pwn them. :)

I've gotten to the point in my game where I just go to the Deep Dungeon and bring two of my party and wail away at those plant monsters(forgot the name). All my guys are at level 99 too.

Best advice I can give you is to pay attention to how far the enemies can move and attack and learn to use the turn list menu. That menu helps a lot in making sure you're charge attacks/spells will hit.

Remember the the person asking for advice is at the begining of the game, lv 1-3 I believe she said. Quite a ways away from getting purple chocobos, ninjas, or calculators.

true....In my stratagy..I made sure that my offensive people had room to retreat..and I made sure that if one of them was forced to retreat, someone could replace them...I don't know if this will help you...but it did help me...

In all honesty, the only thing I can think of would be to make sure you learn as many abilities and techs as you can from each class.
