But is this really lossless? I mean only 129MB?!?

Yes. It's a really short soundtrack and all the music is extremely quiet.
It's not brickwalled death metal so it doesn't need any bitrate at all.

This score is extremely repetitive; it may not be worth the effort! Why did this win an Oscar?

To be honest, I was disappointed that this won (even though I knew it was going to happen). Regardless of whether Morricone deserved an Oscar for previous accomplishments in his career, like with Scorcese he should not have won for one of his weaker efforts. The Force Awakens was clearly the deserving score (with Jupiter Ascending a close second), but the highly politicized nature of the Academy doesn't allow for this. The last time they chose the correct winner was way back in 2003 with The Return of the King.

I would argue that there is never a correct winner, since opinions vary (and I didn't think much of RotK at all, preferred FotR myself). I thought Star Wars The Force Awakens was a pretty average score from a formerly great composer who has become average himself (to simplify my thoughts, basically the new themes were weak, the underscore lacked any character, and the original motifs were essentially tokenism).
On the other hand, The Hateful 8 (to me) was very satisfying in that it gave us a new memorable theme that not only had the hallmarks of Morricone's style, but could easily be confused as a score from his golden era of spaghetti western soundtracks. That, to me, is the most impressive achievement, since I find modern filmmusic to be largely lacking in those key areas of memorable motifs and overall character.

Dare I say, my favourite score of the year is (strangely) Mad Max Fury Road, since I also found a lot of memorable themes and the update of the "braaaaaaahhhmm" sound added immeasurably to the movie, essentially making it a character all on its own. I can appreciate why it has its fair share of detractors, and admittedly I am a little surprised that I like it so much, as its not usually my cup of tea, but it remains the most repeated album for me for the entire year. Obviously it was never going to be in contention for Best Score though. My other favourite score of the year, and again not nominated, was Daniel Pemberton's score for Steve Jobs. This guy is one I am very excited to hear more from, and his score for Steve Jobs was quite amazing in its versatility, and often echoed Philip Glass at times. But I remain in awe of how well he managed to create an "8-bit" sound that slightly evolved with each new Apple release! Again, I am really surprised at how much I have come to love this score.

I think I enjoyed the score for Fury Road more than The Hateful Eight. Like you said, there are a host of themes with some really standout tracks (my favorites being "Let Them Up" and "Brothers in Arms"). With The Hateful Eight, there are only two or so "themes" that are seemingly repeated throughout the entirety of the score. While it's enjoyable enough, the music itself is not very complex or fresh, and just doesn't hold my interest through the whole album. That said, I haven't seen the film so maybe that's part of it.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about The Force Awakens. I think it's just as strong as anything he's ever done (my favorite of his since Revenge of the Sith). I'm not a big fan of Pemberton either, though Steve Jobs is the closest I've come to enjoying his work.

2015 was a somewhat weak year for scores, hopefully this year will be fuller.

Stunning. I would love to see a "Roadshow" 2 CD version of this score one day. Containing the original Decca release as well as this, with the additional music from The Exorcist II and The Thing included. Crystal Gale's "Ready for the Time's to Get Better", that was used during the Intermission of the Roadshow Presentation, would be a fantastic addition as well.
