All tracks are arranged chronologically as heard in the game with the exception of the Gen II Pokdex ratings, which are placed via guesswork and averages. Notable inclusions are the Printer Music, Rocket Duo and Pikachu’s Beach music from Yellow, and the Pokmon Mobile System GB tracks from the Japanese Crystal. Since Gen I never got an official OST release in the west, and Gen II not getting one at all, the track names are derived from the FireRed and the HeartGold Super Music Collections (Gen I in fact uses the same track names for both the original OST and the SMC), however the formatting matches the original Red/Green/Blue OST to preserve their age (for example, the Trainer cues are called "A Trainer Appears" rather than "Trainers’ Eyes Meet"). Conversely, I’ve made custom album art, mimicking the design used for all the other Super Music Collections! You can view the full versions here () and here (
).
Notable tracks that are still in mono due to stereo versions not existing include all Gen I fanfare tracks, the Printer Menu, the Gen I Pok Flute cue and all Gen II battle music.
UPDATE 2!: With the upcoming release of Crystal on 3DS, I’ve finally decided to pick this project back up and redo it all using music rips provided by Dragoonglue, supplemented by recordings from mGBA. I’ve finished both Soundtracks, and included brand new FLAC versions that are included in the .zip files! I’ve made a couple of changes and additions as well:
Using mGBA, I’ve provided a one-off Stereo version of the Red/Green/Blue opening track, by recording each instrument channel and replacing the sound effects with the appropriate music tone. While I normally would not do this (and have not done this for any other mono tracks), I felt it would be fun to do this one, and if the track were included in Yellow it almost certainly would have been in stereo, so hey, why not right?
Using mGBA, I re-recorded all of the various cues that weren’t available in Dragoonglue’s provided rip files. For Gen I this includes the Pok Flute, while for Gen II this covers Item Obtained, Pokmon Acquired, Registered in the PokGear, Level Up!, Received a Pokmon!, Received an HM!, Received a Gym Badge!, Received a Pokmon Egg!, Leave Slot Machine, Card Flip, Second and Third Place in the Bug-Catching Contest, and Move Deleted, as well as all the Pokdex Evaluation cues. Importantly, all of these outright replace the previous low-quality versions sourced from YouTube and sound much better than they did previously.
The naming conventions in the Gold, Silver & Crystal Soundtrack have been changed to match what I used for the Gen I soundtrack. For example, the Trainer pieces changed from "Trainers’ Eyes Meet" to "A Trainer Appears!", Bicycle is now Cycling, and the various short stingers are now prefaced with "Fanfare: ".
A new track has been included for the Unown pulses at the start of the Pokmon Crystal opening.
The track "Pokgear Radio – Professor Oak’s Pokmon Talk" has now been moved to where the other Radio tracks are in Goldenrod.
The track "Received a TM!", named after the track from the HeartGold & SoulSilver soundtrack, has been renamed to "Received an HM!", as the move given at the end of Sprout Tower is an HM in Gen II, not a TM as in Gen IV.
The track "Mobile Connection" has been moved from Goldenrod to just after "Pokmon Mobile System GB", as the menu this track is played can be accessed from the Mobile System GB menu in the Japanese version of Crystal.
I hope you enjoy the music!

Sorry for the late reply, merci beaucoup!
You’re quite right; the music output into Stereo does sound really weird when the four channels are split into left and right. It seriously disjoints the instrumentation when listening on headphones, but on speakers at least it sounds a lot better. As I explained, though, Yellow and GSC offered a Stereo music option for when you had headphones plugged into the Game Boy, and that’s where this soundtrack has derived its audio. Aside from the Yellow-exclusive tracks, it’s likely that all the music was simply converted to Stereo, so it doesn’t sound all that great. The composers started getting the hang of it in GSC though, I feel.

Thank you so much! I’ll put the links up in the original post for others convenience!
Yellow, on the other hand, had three different stereo modes that you could choose from in the settings (in addition to the traditional mono). Some of these sounded odd, one of them was pretty natural sounding though. I don’t recall which number this was (they were numbered in the settings).
You’re not alone, brother.

Quite right, each played around with the leveling a little bit. My personal preference is Earphones 1, which is what PocketMonstersMusic used as well.
Such incredible stuff this is…definitely deserves to be compiled without the annoying production quirks on the official CDs.

Does that mean you ripped the audio out of YT videos and converted it to MP3?
Does that mean you ripped the audio out of YT videos and converted it to MP3?
Yeah, pretty much. The audio on the uploads was pretty good so that’s why I did it that way; I honestly didn’t have the time or energy at the time to play through the game recording all of the music.
I didn’t ask about that but have try ripping the gamefile…?
I wouldn’t know the first step about doing that.
Most of my soundtracks come about because I’m making something cool for myself and feel that others would appreciate it too. I used the method I was most comfortable with, and uploaded it because there weren’t any stereo soundtracks to the best of my knowledge.

Then here the gamefile :

And how am I supposed to get the music from this?
(also I would need Red and Gold, their intro music is specific to them)
(also I would need Red and Gold, their intro music is specific to them)
Well foobar should be perfect with those component : https://mega.nz/#!VxdwDICA!845tltH1m7Kjh68g8CAiWCH2ytxp8QqyWrF8XN_ePJw
Okay. That makes this idea doable, but I would still need the stereo music from Red/Blue/Green and Gold/Silver for a complete Soundtrack.
Also foobar isn’t working with the .m3u files even with those components added.

Try these instead: https://mega.nz/#!PQMWVSga!vZ-mT0bDa29qWPrbq2zVGdWE18nvxZBO1TODI9z0Q00
They should work with foobar as long as you try to open the .gbs files, not the .m3u ones. Red/Blue/Green are mono only, so I doubt you will ever find a stereo .gbs of these games. Also, Yellow had three different earphones settings that mixed songs differently. That’s the reason I have included three different files.
Also foobar isn’t working with the .m3u files even with those components added.
Have try to activate them….?
I mean go to librairy —) configure—) component—)Install…?
If it still doesn’t work I’ll handle this
Okay foobar is working with the original plug-ins now. Despite the fact that Red/Green/Blue were in mono, it’d be nice to at least have a rip of its opening theme to include for a more complete soundtrack. Same for having one for Gold/Silver for its unique opening theme and title screen tracks.
I do appreciate the help in doing this properly, though!

Well in that case http://vgmdb.net/album/57107
That won’t do, the Japanese soundtracks had reverb echoes in them that I don’t want in the Soundtrack.
I also included Gold’s stereo .gbs in that file, though Crystal’s .gbs already includes the opening from Gold/Silver. The only track that’s different is the title screen theme.
Okay, well I would like that for completionist’s sake. And Red, pretty please.
You can download it here, but it’s mono http://snesmusic.org/pmh/download.php?id=1193 As I told you before it doesn’t exist on stereo.
And as I said before, I don’t mind it in mono! I am just interested in a rip that can top the reverb OST version. Thanks so much!
(psst. Gold title screen music, pretty please?)
It’s on the file I uploaded before: https://mega.nz/#!PQMWVSga!vZ-mT0bDa29qWPrbq2zVGdWE18nvxZBO1TODI9z0Q00
-selfgroan- Herpaderp, thanks for putting up with my hubris.
Better yet is using GBS2GB to turn it into a ROM and then recording them from KiGB (or a physical system!)
What would these improvements be for the GBS2GB method? On the other, I have a Game Boy Colour still in working condition, and the 3DS version of Yellow, but the idea of playing through the entire game for music is impractical for me at the moment. Not to mention some music, such as battle music, is interrupted by cries and other sound effects.
Quality. If you have a GBC flashcart then you could do it, but the sound on an original Game Boy is supposedly far superior (Thread 188588). Recording right from a 3DS…I’m not sure. It is an official Nintendo system, so it might sound quite good, but I’ve never played and Virtual Console games on mine so I wouldn’t know. Also, there would be the issue of sound effects.
Yeah. Sounds like Vinyl Voodoo to me, considering the files I’ve been provided with being derived from the original files, right?
EDIT
I have a question, I’m currently listening the "Red, Green, Blue & Yellow" OST and I’ve noticed that almost all (except tracks 1, 20 and 48) the tracks have just the upper half of the soundwave, you can see what I mean from these images:
While a normal track has a complete wave, such as
So looking at the soundwaves I wonder if it is good to have only half, but maybe I’m wrong?

I haven’t looked at the track names in a while and I’m at work atm, but my guess is that it’s simply how the waveforms of Game Boy music appear.
It’s strange because I have all soundtrack from red/blue to sun/moon and the waveform are all complete (with upper and lower parts).
It’s very rare to see tracks with only upper (or lower) part of the waveform, I have a music player that let me see the waveform of the song playing, so in these years I have seen thousands of waveforms.
Moreover, in your other folder "GSC Stereo" there are just few tracks with only upper waveform, and all the others have complete waveform, so maybe the problem is only with your rip of "Red, Green, Blue & Yellow" games.
Anyway very thanks for the work!
You can hear the difference between your rip with half of the waveform, and the one from ruiner9 with full waveform
download here https://mega.nz/#F!Q4MWUYRJ!cjZF-iGoDzsoIEIBVqBmIA
You can hear that the sound is more complete with a full waveform
Actually on the Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Super Music Complete soundtrack, the last 9 tracks are a selection of tracks from the original Red & Green/Blue without any reverb or additional effects. They are the Title Screen, Road to Viridian city (Route 1), Viridian Forest, Pewter City, Battle (Trainer), The S.S Anne, Cycling Theme, Cerulean/Fuchsia City, Champion Battle, and The Ending.
But yeah OP should’ve used .gbs files to do his ripping, if it is possible to do that while stereo mode is enabled.
If you don’t want to, that’s fine. You have put enough effort into this already. 🙂

Well what I could do is have a track just before it that’s just the Unown sound effects, so if one doesn’t want to hear them, they can skip/delete the track!

Only a couple of tracks remain in mono as there is no stereo version in Yellow. These are the original RGB opening (since that wasn’t in Yellow), all Fanfare tracks, the Printer Menu, and the Pok Flute cue.

The track "Mobile Connection" has been moved from Goldenrod to just after "Pokmon Mobile System GB", as the menu this track is played can be accessed from the Mobile System GB menu in the Japanese version of Crystal.
First of all, thank you SO much for your magnificent work of ripping and compiling the whole of this soundtrack for all of us to enjoy, cheers to you!
I’m very picky, however, and please don’t forgive me for that – I was listening to the soundtrack I just downloaded and I noticed there’s like a tenth of a second cut off in 00:16 of Route 29 (GSC soundtrack)
Can you verify if it’s something to do with the file you uploaded? If what you have is normal, then it must be my computer deciding to f* things up for me again because it seems to find it fun… (I might have to download the file again!) Could you get back to me, here or in PM? Sorry for the inconvenience 🙁

Thanks for the compliments! Huh, Route 29 is one of my favourites in the game so I probably would have noticed. I played the FLAC version in foobar2000 and the MP3 version in Windows Media Player and didn’t hear a skip. Could be your end then?
I just opened the file using foobar2000, and it plays just fine ^_^’, so I guess VLC is doing something bizarre to the track…
I guess VLC (mac, I’m running a VM for foobar) must have some sort of code to speed up how files are read or whatnot to the detriment of audio quality, or that it just didn’t parse the file correctly.
Anyways, thanks again for all of this! (I’ll definitely be spreading this thread’s link out and about, because this is just such greatness)
Aw, thank you! Not all the tracks sound great in Stereo but I felt it was important for posterity since most people think of the Game Boy as a mono-sound sytsem.
