If you use something like MVPS hosts modding, it won't show up.
http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
Separate from any anti-virus or anti-malware program.
Also passive security as it doens't require any actions or take any actions.
It just simply blocks certain IPs from being accessed.
Spybot's Search & Destroy has a similar function where you can add more IP's to the hosts file for blocking:
"Immunization (
https://www.safer-networking.org/faq/what-is-the-immunization-feature-and-what-are-the-other-permanent-protection-options-2/)"
Also SpywareBlaster (
https://www.brightfort.com/spywareblaster.html) has same function with only a few more IP's if you arleady have the above to installed.

"hosts" file modding is also separate from passive DNS security like using "OpenDNS (
https://www.opendns.com/)" as your resolver.
With OpenDNS, you get a redirect notice about the block from OpenDNS and you can change settings to allow certain domains through.
but this wasn't a DNS block for me, so most likely a "hosts' file block as none of my security software made a notice.
Also no add-ons were enabled, so most likely hosts file.
