Yeah! You should be allowed to steal whatever you want with no consequences!

No, I don't particularly like Metallica. I can rock out to some of their older material though.

Metallica played what I feel to be a very important role in my growing up, and for that they will always be dear to me.

meh, any song i dl, is either somethin i'll listen to on occasion and wouldn't waste my money on in the first place. and MOST of the music i listen to is because someone on a forum or a friend of mine will say hey you should listen to this song, and i'll dl it, and i'll end up liking a lot of bands that way, and buying their cds or other merchanise BECAUSE i dled their music and liked it

I download music myself, I just don't steal albums. I was more joking about the way you phrased it than anything else.

The thing is, Metallica wasn't really concerned about people checking stuff out, they were concerned about people copying entire albums and never paying for them. I don't agree with them attempting to shut down P2P programs, but I do think they are justified in seeking ways to prevent interweb theft of music. The key is to create P2P software that only allows you to literally "borrow"--i.e., you can share stuff that other people own, but not actually physically COPY it onto your computer. But I imagine that's a long way off.

Metallica played a major role in my musical education. they made playing guitar and drums fun, and opened me up to all kinds of music. Whoever said there boring and guitar reliant is more than likely a Emo kid, or rapper? u need to do your homework b4 u state your opinion dude.

Will any of you recommend some songs of Metalica?
I once listened to one song by them somewhere.
I didn't really pay attention to the song but later the song started echoing in my head and I have been obsessed with that.
It should be very famous, so it's likely it's one of your favoirte songs.
Thanks.

I really liked Metallica about 14-16 years ago. My favorites were 'Ride the Lightning' and 'Master of Puppets'. I had some of the newer stuff too, but it got a bit boring after a while. And they became too commercial, I didn't like it that much.

I dunno. Frantic truly rocks out when it's done live, as does St. Anger.

Metallica are one of my favourite bands, ever. Seen them at Reading, Dublin, and London (twice :p), and can't wait for them to play anywhere I can see them again. I want to try and get in 10 gigs before they break up.

Metallica are indeed a good band. I might be going to see them at this years download festival (if they are there). My favourite three songs have to be St Anger, Enter Sandman and Master of Puppets, but I personally like the album St Anger.

Metallica allways brought something new you can give them that. S&M was a succes and if you cathegorize St.A. as trash metal it is a failure. There are far more better trash albums than S.A. like Cowboys from hell by Pantera or Practice what you preach by Testament. Thay ran out of inspiration imo (consirning the music)

Word has it that the original st. anger had solo's, but Arse Ulrich demanded they be removed because they felt they got in the way of his drumming.

Which ended up being awful anyway. Thanks Lars!

They are hated for liking metallica? That's a really stupid reason to hate someone. :(

I think it is wrong to say "Metallica sucks". "I don't like Metallica" is okay cos you may not like heavy metal at all but you have to admit that other genres of music can't even be compared to metal (technically). It's just the same as saying classical music sucks.

It really pisses me off when people disrespect Metallica because of the Napster situation. Any one of you would have done the same thing...if someone found a way to cheat you out of YOUR money, you'd go after them, yes? I'd sure hope so.

That being said, I absolutely love their first 4 albums...but the rest, not so much. IMO Kill 'em All and ...And Justice For All are their best work. RIP Cliff Burton

Lars Ulrich also ruined St. Anger by demanding the solos get removed, and agreeing with Bob Rock on his shitty sampling, even though it completely fucking ruined his drums.

It isn't that bad an album.
A great deal of people I know who claim to hate it have heard one, maybe two tracks beyond frantic and st. anger.

I like it. That which I've heard live from it is also very, very good. Then again, most kids don't go to gigs for the fuckin' music anymore. Idiots.

well, for me, Metallica was the first actual band that i digged, and now i must say that Kill 'Em All through Justice are my faves.

if anyone's interested, i found copies of re-recorded Justice songs (tracks 2,3,5,6,7,9) that have had bass added (since the bass on the original recordings were less than non-audible) here (http://www.jasonizer.com/justice.html).
Also on that site is a copy of the Blackened intro played both backwards and forwards. The instrumental intro was originally designed one way, but Metallica decided that it sounded cooler backwards, so this way you can hear both and decide for yourself.

Imo, St. Anger has some really good ideas(riffs and vocals) but they are badly executed.
That is mostly because of the sound they had chosen for their album. It sounds like they are playing in some hole and Lars's drums sound like crap. And as for Jaymz,he's slowly loosing his voice.
