As is the case with lot of people, the Christmas Season is my favourite time of the year, made all the more special by music, movies and live musical theater.
My all time favourite holiday movie has to be the 1970 musical, Scrooge, with Albert Finney as the definitive Ebenezer Scrooge, a tuneful Leslie Bricusse song score and despite being a musical the most faithful adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic story ever, in my opinion. It is a beautiful film that I have loved since my early teens and it gets better with repeated viewing. I played the soundtrack LP until I wore it out and luckily later found it on reel to reel stereo tape, most fortuitous since the album is long out of print and has never been released on CD. I transferred and remastered my reel tape a couple of years ago and am enclosing 2 links (FLAC & MP3) to this upload in case any of you would also like to hear this wonderful score. The only extra track is the exit music but the songs were presented fairly complete on the album anyway. I hope it brings back some enjoyable memories of this fabulous film musical and hope it contributes to a happier holiday season for all of you.

Also my favorite version. Discovered it on TV as my mother would watch it every year. Strange that there's never been a CD release. It's not like the film is rare. In fact there's even a Blu-Ray out now of it.
Anyway, thanks for the FLAC !

I took the 5.1 surround DVD, and recorded the rear channels, which had no lead vocals, only some background vocals, but it was really great, since I had a 5.1 DVD player with 5 output audio jacks. I think that I still have the tracks somewhere, but will have to find them to share.

Here's the original CD that was uploaded here a few years ago on this site by "Williamtaylor1969" all thanks go to him. He did a large Christmas thread and had a bunch of really rare items that have not been seen before or since!

And, sorry, I looked for those tracks that I recorded from the DVD, but couldn't find them.

Too bad you weren't able to find those tracks. Thanks for looking.
What CD do you mean was uploaded by Williamtaylor1969 ? Scrooge has never been released on CD, not the film version anyway. The London musical has been on CD, though.

Yes, check out the link. It has clean tracks in MP3, though they are only 256, still sounds good, and has the scan of the actual CD to go with, though the scans are very low quality.

Of course, since William was working, or is working in the entertainment biz, this could be one of the little perks that he had gotten from the composer.

I fell in love with this music back in the 80's when Disney used to use "A Christmas Carol" for its theme park Christmas parades around the globe. I must confess, I thought it was a Disney song until only a few years ago. Still, it gives me goosebumps every time I hear it! Thank you!!

Just watched the Blu-ray last weekend and it does get better with each viewing. Love the music, which stays with you days afterwards. One day it is hoped that some label like Intrada may be able to have possibly an expanded release, with nice notes. Thanks for your effort in this post.

The "69" person mentioned had a vivid imagination...was banned from the site, I believe...the film soundtrack never did have a CD release to my knowledge, but there was a rather good LP rip of it floating around. There were CDs released of the live show based on the movie, however.
