This is the US Watertower pressing which is near silent in comparison to the European 'Music On Vinyl' release which is reported to be quite noisy.

Actually, what's the difference between a normal cd copied in flac 24-bit and a vinyl copied in 24-bit? Is there any audio quality difference? Or difference in the music itself?

Extreme audio quality difference. Far superior. Download this and listen, then compare it to the OST.

Vinyl will always have different "dynamic compression" over CD.
It will also have mastering errors since pressing to vinyl is always different than pressing to disc.
There's also the matter that it's completely non-digital. There's no real bit depth to it. It depends more on the source used to transfer to vinyl.
you can capture vinyl at any bit depth you want to digitize it. And virtually any frequency you want. then edit it and dither down to something more sane like 24.
Capturing at higher sample rate helps clean up the noise and other artefacts in the vinyl itself.
"sounding more real/organic" is because it's not likely to be brickwalled like CD's.
And probably like a dozen other things, too.
Can't wait to listen to this rip later, really loud.

I can tell you right now this makes mine sound like absolute fucking shit lol. Which makes sense, because mr_merrick has the superior turntable. Mine was not meant for ripping vinyl at such a professional level and meant to be shared with film score enthusiasts. I was going to rip mine again once I got a new turntable, but merrick beat me to it.
I'm playing around with some of the tracks in Audition and making some new custom pieces, and it sounds amazing. Mine is garbage by comparison

Why I still hear many cracks?
Because that's how vinyl is.
Every creation is imperfect with its own scratches and junk.
It would be pretty near impossible to clean most of the pops without destroying the actual music.
There's some reading here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/comments/2akucq/why_do_some_of_my_new_records_cracklepop/
Most other google searches I see are mostly on "removing" these.
Which is what you don't want to do.
Mostly, you want to try find the sweet spot of removing the extra hiss and excessive noise.
Unless you want that vintage atmosphere to it.
I love it.

What are your "edits" going to consist of?
"Stay / Detach" runs 8:48 and consists of the intro of Dreaming of the Crash. It then fades into the same segment of Stay, which plays all the way to the end of the cue. After that I crossfaded it with the same segment of Detach and it plays to the climax.
"Dreaming of Murph" runs 14:16 and is what I'm calling an "Alternate Extended" of Stay / Detach. It's the same up until the part where I brought in the climax of Detach. Instead of the climax playing out, I brought in Murph where the 2 cues have the same segment and it plays out all the way to the end.
I think maybe later today (if I find the time), I'll mix up Detach with Murph since they have some of the same parts.

I hate to be that guy, but I'm not hearing what makes this superior to the digital release. Maybe the fact that the digital version is simply louder is clouding my judgment. My equipment is Oppo HA-1 w/ Sennheiser HD 650 and Neumann KH 120s.

seeing as it's analogue vs. digital, i don't think vinyl is meant to be "superior" to the digital source.
it's just got a vintage feel to it over the digital formats.
I don't think anyone said it was supposed to be superior.
it's just a different listening experience.
The 24bit verison is the same sample rate as the CD but more bit depth.
All the digital versions have the hertz noise.
I don't know about the vinyl, I haven't looked at it through spectrogram to see if the line is still there.
Not that I could actually hear it, anyway.

Here are two screenshots of the track Murph. As you can see in the frequency spectrum, there isn't much real musical audio data above the (in)famous CD limitation of 44 100 Hz (i added the red lines to show where the limit is). Also you can see the Hertz noise at about 16 000 Hz that sparktank mentioned. The regular waveform view shows what is to be expected from a vinyl rip - some pops and crackles.
NOTE THOUGH - i am NOT putting any personal value into what i just said. Those are undeniable facts. It's anyone's preference on how you feel about this rip :) i for one love it and once more say thanks :) but one other note though, when you turn 20, you're hearing is in most cases going downhill. I know i am far from hearing the frequencies that even a CD can give me, but that doesn't mean i can't enjoy music ;)

Well... there are more tracks not available on this one (I'm Going Home, Coward and S.T.A.Y.). But then again, compared to the 1CD release, this has:
No Time For Caution
Murph
Tick-Tock
Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
that the 1CD release doesn't have. Best of both worlds? The 2CD Illuminated Star Projection version had those and also these extra:
First Step
Flying Drone
Atmospheric Entry
No Need to Come Back
Imperfect Lock
What Happens Now?
Who's They?
Organ Variation
Day One [Original Demo]

Got both the MOV EU and WaterTower US, the latter is no doubt superior, only I sold my turntable/adc setup before I got round to ripping it (in anticipation of eventually upgrading) so a digital copy of this would be great for the time being.

There's a huge difference. Firstly, CD's are not 24 bit; they're only 16 bit. Plus, analogue recordings made on 1/2 inch, 30 inch-per-second tape have far higher resolution than any digital recording, even 192/24bit, and believe it or not, many studios still only work in 44/24, which is barely any better than CD quality.
The only limitation on playback quality (in the case of vinyl) is the turntable/arm/cartridge/pre-amp (in that order) used to play it back on; the better the deck, the better the resultant sound will be. And whilst hi-resolution digital is better than CD, it still doesn't compare well against a good vinyl playback system.
