There is no "Higher quality version than FLAC". FLAC is a container for lossless audio. If the audio is truly lossless, it only
gets better if the audio is recorded at higher bit and sample rates.

For example, the Original Soundtrack and the 5.1 Mix are both the same FLAC format, but the 5.1 has a higher bitrate and sample rate.
But in the end it’s all conjecture. You can’t really tell the difference between perfect lossless and HD lossless. And if you say you can you’re
probably just hearing a difference in mastering.

The 5.1 version is much less powerful and gives way to more nuances and dynamics, but the soundtrack is blown to shit in most
of the loud parts. But regardless of mastering, you wouldn’t notice a difference in actual audio quality. There probably
aren’t many people in the world who can. Since we can’t hear above 20hKz anyways (and the 5.1 is 96 (48)kHz. You need a lot of
training to be able to hear differences. Years of experience, probably, and I don’t think it really is something that can be taught. You teach
yourself to notice the subtlety.)

when I woke up it hadn’t even started yet. Now it’s slowly crawling up.
37kb/s now. This is unusual as my up is 100mb/s.

Thank you for your precise answer. Detailed yet simple to grasp the concept. I heard already about this HD Lossless. Maybe a trickier question 😉

DTS-HD Master Audio support 2-7.1 channels. The 5.1 channel soundtrack I am providing here
came from the Blu-Ray of the soundtrack. (Included with the Limited Edition). This Blu-Ray version
of the soundtrack is 96kHz/24bit audio. So in a sense, it is "equivelant" to Blu-Ray audio like you said,
since it came from a Blu-Ray disk.. Lol.

Adding more channels, like 7.1, doesn’t change the quality at all. Just adds more channels.
You could take the 5.1 channel from the Halo 5 Blu-Blu Ray, remux it down to 2 channels, and
it would sound the exact same. So, channels do not effect quality.

Secondly, wouldn’t vinyl have higher sampling and bit rate?

Vinyl is an analogue medium and can be transfered to any digital sample rate.
The higher the sample rate the bigger the filesize. Most people who make Vinyl
transfers will stick with 96kHz and lower.

The only difference you get out of Vinyl VS Digital is that Vinyl is (again) mastered
differently as the Vinyl medium (as I have been told) does not support bigger, louder
mastering like digital can. This is why Vinyl will generally sound more "Organic" (also
due to the resonance of the masterial). Theoretically you can transfer Vinyl to any
Sample rate and any bit rate, but, say having something that is 5,644,800Hz and 512 bits
is just going to cost you a few hard drives and nothing else.

Vinyl mastering would be more contrary to Blu-Ray mastering than CD mastering.

FLAC is just a container. It has nothing to do with audio quality/audio sound or anything like that.

When I say "loud parts blown to shit" I am speaking on behalf of how the audio is so loud that it clips in on itself.
Take "Light is Green" for example. On the CD, listen to this track. At the peak of the swell, between 1:40 and 1:50,
the bass clips because it has been mastrered to be as loud as possible. Look at this waveform
At 1:42 you can see that the amplitude begins to flatten out or "brick". This is because it cannot
possibly be any louder. On headphone which sport a weaker bass or even bass magnification, all you will
hear during that peak is a gross, muddy and warped sounding audio.

I have also provided a spectrogram below it for decibel comparison. Notice the sheer whiteness.
It is loud. Louder than most headphones can handle.

This is simply a result of poor engineering and the fact that the standard for mastering these days
is "BE AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE"

If you compare this waveform and spectrogram to that of the one from the Blu-Ray, you will notice
that the Blu-Ray looks much more tame.
