Okay, this is a TAK file. I've never encountered this format before and I can't open or convert it using XLD or Audacity or anything else I've got. Anybody got any advice?

Yes you can open & break to separate files with XLD but you must first install WINE (applications designed for Microsoft Windows to run on Unix-like operating systems) beacuse TAK not have support for MAC. So if you install WINE you can use windows binaries through MAC. This is link for you
