"Omizu no Hanamichi" was a dram-edy TV series from 1999 that follows a group of hostesses working at a fancy Tokyo nightclub ("Paradise") and the many pleasures and complications they deal with along the way. Oshima starts things out with a Hollywood-style overture, followed by a lively nod to Gershwin. There's a fun march, a brassy TV-show tune, and a gorgeous ballad for flute and orchestra. There's also a pretty rendition of Shearing's "Lullaby of Birdland" for piano and clarinet. The final track, a dramatic piano solo, is credited to Yoshiharu Shiina.
The series had a sequel in 2001 called “Shin (“New”) Omizu no Hanamichi”, also with music by Oshima. You can find it here: Thread 208516
Original 1999 TV Series "Omizu no Hanamichi": 14 tracks on Polygram (Japan) #PHCL-5113.
