When the Chocobo gets new skills (and new colours), the big Chocobo keeps saying things like "You'll find the paradies pretty soon......" and stuff like that.
Where is this paradies? I've done almost everything now. Got all the treasures, but didn't beat the one monster at the one Chocobo place yet. Do I have to kill it at first that my Chocobo can go to his paradies? Or is it somewhere else?
I never came this far before, because I never really got into the Chocobo game that much. This time I try to find everything.....
Can somebody help? :)

Have you got the flying chocobo yet? Offhand, I believe the Chocobo Paradise is in one of the mountain cracks on the northeast or southeast corner of the map on an island. Have you gotten any treasures from any of the secret mountain cracks yet?
Oh, and the one monster doesn't have anything to do with the Paradise.

I got all the regular threasure chests. Are there some more? I can't remember, haven't played this game for a while. I got the regular ones and the one in the cave (Quans cave, Vivis grandfather). This one was new to me though.....
And yes, of course, I got the flying one. ;)

Yeah, there's lots of stuff hidden in mountain cracks, including the Chocobo Paradise. There are also ocean treasures and other stuff that you need to use the Dead Peppers for.
I recommend going to GameFAQs and looking at the FAQs called Chocobo Guide (JIS) and Moogle FAQ (the second one on the list.) These ones really helped me out. I never would have gotten half the stuff without these. Just read through them carefully, they rock!

Wow, I dind't know there are so more treasures to get. Do you have the links to the FAQs? :)
Agent0042
12-26-2004, 11:43 PM
GameFAQs won't let you direct-link to their guides. It'll just throw up some sort of error message. Just go to GameFAQs and put Final Fantasy IX in their search box at the top. Then once the results come up, click on FAQs next to Final Fantasy IX, which should be right at the top. Then click the ones labeled Chocobo Guide (JIS) and also (perhaps in a new window, or come back to it later) the one labeled Moogle FAQ (the second one on the list, the one that was just updated recently.)

OK, I'll try that then. I never used any FAQs before....this explains my stupid question, he, he. I'm sure, I'll find something. Thanks :)

It looks like I can't finish the Chocobo quest after Terra. I can't dig for certain treasures anymore, because there are too many roots now. The mist wouldn't be a big problem, but the roots are.
I only found one more treasure chest in the sea, but I can't find the other ones.
I decited to start a new game and do that before I go to Terra.
And nothing happens when I go to the corner of the map. I kinda knew it has something to do with it, but I can't do anything there. I guess, I was too late. :(

Eee. Ah well. I seem to remember still being able to most if not all of it on Disc 4, but I guess the Mist and the roots can really mess things up. Just stay on Disc 3 this time and enjoy the replay! Perhaps you'll find some more stuff you missed before. FFIX is a fun one to replay.

Oh, I know I could still find some treasures in the sea, even after Terra.....if I knew where they are. ;)
The next time, I try to find everything before I go to Terra. And yes, FF-IX is fun for a replay, but I think, every FF is. :)

If you want to go to chocobo paradise, don't waist time in mountains cracks....no.
Have you ever saw a round shaped shadow anywhere on the map. cauz it's there. It's never at the same place, it moves. so you have to search it. When you find it, (you must be flying) stand within it and use a pepper. you chocobo will bring you on a cloud. Remember: you must fly in the round shaped shadow and use a pepper.

only_my_opinion --- that's the Chocobo Floating Air Garden. Not the same place as the Chocobo Paradise. Aerith Gainsborough has already found the Air Garden. I know it, 'cuz of the thread about Ozma.

The chocobo paradise?? I never went to then... So I'm asking the same question as the one who started the thread: how do you manage to go to chocobo paradise?
in a mountain crack?
and what is there in the chocobo paradise? I mean what is there special? I want a spoiler.

Okay, do you remember that each time your chocobo got an upgrade, there was sort of a sleepy tune and you got transported to an area where a Fat Chocobo King upgraded Boco's ability and said something like that he was closer to reaching the paradise and rejoining his friends? Well, once you have the flying chocobo, you can get to the Chocobo Paradise and in essence complete the storyline. I don't wanna say too much more than that, because it's really quite... well, touching.
To get there (this is from the GameFAQs FAQ):
"Chocobo Paradise- There's an island at the very corner of the map (any
corner, you can't see it on the mini-map but it's there) Find the crack in the
mountain and use a Dead Pepper while standing in front of it. This will allow
you to enter."
There's lots of treasures in other mountain cracks too. Just keep trying, it can be very hard, but there's a lot of good treasure.
As long as you already have your flying chocobo, you should be good to go to the paradise right away.

Are there a lot more treasures I need to get before I can go to the paradise?
Because I know you can't get to Chocobos paradise if you only found the regular treasures. Or at least I don't think I can. Maybe it didn't work, becasue I was on Terra already.
How many more are at the sea? And how many more are at the mountains?
5? 10? or more than that?
Agent0042

You don't need anything other than the treasures just to get to it. You just need the flying chocobo. You do need all the treasures though to completely wrap things up 100%.
Aerith Gainsborough
01-02-2005, 09:10 PM
So, I guess I couldn't to it, because I was on Terra before..... :(
The next time I have to find the paradise before I go to Terra. I should be able to get there then. ;)
But my Chocobo will be gone after that, won't he? I mean, after I found the paradise, can I still dig for treasures in the places? And what about Ozma? I can't get there without a Chocobo, either.

Some Treasures you can't get until disc 3, but as long as you have the Flying Chocobo and plenty of Dead Peppers you should be fine
Agent0042
01-02-2005, 09:20 PM
Aerith Gainsborough --- don't worry. You won't lose your chocobo by going to the Paradise. It might seem like it at first, and I wasn't going to say anything about it to try to preserve the story, but you're not going to lose your chocobo.
And to be honest, I still don't know what all of this stuff about Terra is. As far as I know, the Chocobo Paradise should still be accessible on Disc 4, although I'd have to check to make sure.
Aerith Gainsborough
01-02-2005, 09:40 PM
Oh, you won't loose it? That's fine. :)
Well, like I said, I had all the regulare treasures, but not the ones from the mountain cracks and not the other ones in the sea.
After I came back from Terra, there were no cracks in the mountains left. There were roots instead. I was not able to pick through them. All I could get after Terra, was another treasure in the sea.... :(

Thats funny I missed most of the Mountain cracks on my first run through, but when I found them in my second game, I was able to find and dig them on my first ( this was after beating Trance Kuja)

Yay, I found the Chocobo paradies. I've never noticed the crack in the mountain before. It is weird. But well, I found it and it looks so beautiful. :)
Now I just have to find the mog central.... ;)

Alright guys, I just have to say that the strategy guide Bradygames made for this is PIECE OF LIVING CRAP. Instead of telling you how to do stuff, it would always say..go to playstationonline and type 'this' in. THose homos. I had to go gamefaqs to get the treasure locations. lol im hopeless

The strategy guide is available for free at Square-Enix's FF section. Go there instead of Playonline and look at their archive content for old Final Fantasies. You'll eventually find their free FFIX online guide and you can just put in the codes in the guide to get what you have got if you had gone to PlayOnline. Or, you can just look at it all for free without ever getting the guide.
Okay, back on topic now.

Yeah, this was really making me mad too. When I bought the game I had no chance to go to the internet. This means, even if I had a FF-IX guide I couldn't do everything.... :(
BTW, I found the Chocobos paradies, also the Mognet Central. Thanks again to everybody.... ;)

Well I was really confused who necron was. Agent you know anything about him? I remember beating Kuja and all of a sudden this guy comes in. Someone please tell him why he is there since I cannot say FF9 is the greatest till I know his pupose.

Hmm. You should look for one of the other Necron threads, but in a nutshell, nobody else seems to really know why he's there either. He just sort of shows up, apparently to give Kuja a chance to redeem himself.

I thought so. It changed so much from the beginning, relationships grew, the party got stronger, and individually, characters changed. The way that Zidane got tangled up in everything was amusing, once you think back when you're at the end. His mission was to kidnap the princess, which he did, but he wanted to do more. I think the character developement in this game is one of the most obvious and strongest.
