Just to clarify things. I am probably one of those that you thought.
Well, as some gentlemen here share my links outside forum & linked my MEGGA account and endanger its safe operation.
instead to post your own link I have to take the following measures:
1. All my links except those on western thread is hidden and distribution is carried out through private messages.
2. I devised a way not to wait even a little bit of my links. I have some software which is connected to my inbox on shrine.
So when member who is interested for my post confirm LIKE button message with link automatically goes to his address!!!
System is not perfect yet, but works. Just ask other people whether he waiting for my links.
Means, I do not insist that someone LIKED my post like reward to me, than it is really NECESSARY!!!
I have, unlike some here who only know how to criticize, 3-4 uploads here per day.
Just imagine for that time, my inbox is full.
Finally, this is message for you, mr. gold & Azetlor: please share something not run idle conversation!!!

But your way of using "Likes" is different from the way that some users interpret "Likes". Some people think it's offensive when you don't "Like" their post. And that's what I can't wrap my head around.

I can't understand that mindset.
Well, for me it's kind of important, because on top of the appreciation, in my "accumulative" threads it's an indication of what people are more interested in, or less.
Still, 95% of the people on this board *never* contribute anything, so you get no likes nor thanks for anything.
Of course I could just not send any links to people with just one "brick" in their profile. Again, that would exclude 95% of all people. Fine by me ...
TheSkeletonMan939
09-19-2015, 05:00 PM
What I'm referring to is bullshit like this:
OP wants a "like" in exchange for the link. I just got a PM:
"No "like", no chocolate!"
A member - who has several thousand posts, full rep, and four years here - can't get a link because he didn't "Like" the original post. That's the sort of behavior I can't understand. Sure, it's courteous to "Like" a post if you really do enjoy what's been shared, but it shouldn't dictate whether I can listen to the music or not. Why should I even "Like" something I haven't even listened to or received yet??
Ultimately it's your thread, you can choose who gets the links or not, but to base it solely on how many "Likes" you get is really a silly way of operating.

That's not the point, really. A user can have 1,367 posts but just one "brick" because all he really did was say Thanks or request something (often the latter!) 1,367 times but NEVER EVER contributed anything himself.
I'm fine with not supplying content that I paid for(!) to any of these people, but I was fully content as long as at least they had to express their thanks through likes (not hard work, one may say).

I read concepts expressed here and you know what I say to myself?
So fucking glad I've approached the Shrine back when crap like Reputation and Likes weren't added yet, at least that helped a bit toward instilling a mentality of share for the sake of sharing.
And folks who hate leechers are disgustingly ignorant: that group of silent folks which has enough of downloading is the reason most of the links of this place have been active for months, or even years! Try seeing how long a link lasts if you rely solely on the bunch of folks which take their time to thank you. Like it or not, leechers are the ones you should be most grateful toward, this place would have been doomed without them.

Like I've said before. The concept of the like button and reputation only serves to weaken bonds and pit us against
one another. It does not matter who gets more likes. It does not matter if you never receive a single like.
What matters is the content you put out and the people who take the time to say thank you.
As you can see, there are already people arguing in this thread because of the disappearance
of the like button.
The fact that it is gone is a good thing for the Shrine. More people will be inclined to communicate with
one another and to give thanks instead of pressing a button which, in all honestly means nothing, at least
to me.
I'd rather focus on the constructive feedback I receive from others when I post things, the thanks I receive
when I choose to share, and people generally just being happy and enjoying what I have to offer. Rather than
a stupid button that is almost too small to even see on the screen. It is way more worthwhile to COMMUNICATE
WITH EACH OTHER than to simply press a button, acknowledging them. That's a compelte cop-out and utterly
lazy.

I do not and never will play the "PM me for the link / like my post for the link / do something for the link" game unless there is some reason (like the music in question coming from a banned record label) why I cannot share the link publicly.
That said... I liked the likes. I LOVE comments - real people saying real things about my posts are infinitely more valuable than logging in and counting up the number of people who pressed a button because you forced them to... but "like" is quick and simple and it can be a useful tracker.
Wimpel started doing the "like for the link" and I was going to start doing the same thing myself in the event I shared something that way. I'm not a very organised person - and that's got ten times worse since my stroke - so having the list of people who liked your thread would've been a good safety net, to know who asked for your link.
Nonetheless... I'll live without it. Perhaps it will encourage people who would've taken the quick route of clicking "like" to actually write something instead. Here's hoping. :)
TheSkeletonMan939

It is way more worthwhile to COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER than to simply press a button, acknowledging them.
Agreed.
I find it much more rewarding for someone to leave me a comment in my thread than for them to click "Like".
"Like" could mean anything. I much prefer being able to read, "Wow Skelly, I thought I'd never be able to hear this Wallace and Gromit music!" "Thanks for the Ultron trailer song!" "I love Blackadder!" or even "Thanks for trying, but I don't like the way it turned out..." It lets me know how what I've done actually affects the member.
Perhaps it will encourage people who would've taken the quick route of clicking "like" to actually write something instead. Here's hoping. :)
There's a member here named samy103 or something like that. He doesn't participate in discussions, he doesn't share anything as far as I know, but he has 2,000 posts. He says "thank you share!" so I guess his English isn't very good. But he's said that 2,000 times and I think that a comment from him is still more valuable than a "Like".
That's the route I hope people start taking in lieu of likes: actual comments, no matter how bland.
Or maybe people will get even more lazy and just take it without even showing any sort of acknowledgement. Either way the world will spin on, and people will continue to share music just the way they always have. Maybe some uploaders will realize how damned useless those "Likes" were.

"LIKE" ;)
I like you too Mr. Gold, and I forgive you for what you did to miss Swan, you prick.
Bye Bye "Like"! Welcome Back Dear "Communication"!! :)
Gotta make a movie about that. "The Whore Like, and Miss Communication. A human Downfall."

Liked.
The search mostly worked for me, mostly.
You and I both. It was a good tool for me, despite what seems to "everyone" agree in being useless.

It does opt people to show actual appreciation toward their upload by writing a nice comment.
That doesn't work with "classical by request", "film music hunt" or my run-on-themed threads, People saying thanks for my releases in those threads (1,200+ uloads) would wreck them.
And sorry that I expect at least the small "token" of appreciation by sharing music that I paid thousands and thousands of dollars for. :( - Unlike the scores of people who actually provide ZILCH but just leech off of others and for whom I still provide (unlike some others who say "users with one brick" shouldn't bother to ask - maybe I should do that, too.)
And as I said before, it's a pointer for me as to which kind of music/style people prefer.

What do you think of Beheading?
It is a rather barbaric practice.
You didn't mention your thoughts on lossless yet though, what are they?
oh. I see. Since there is no "like" function you are trying a this trap into "Like/dislike" imaginary button. you don't fool me. xD
I think the majority in here already know how I feel about lossless. But just a quick thing:
LOSS of my time, and I could not care LESS about it.

I'm surprised more people don't know how to search the Shrine database on Google. I've always
found it way more effective than the built-in search function here on the site..

Well, I'd be content with the "reputation button" that seems to be working in some threads but not in others (bottom left of each posting).

If this keeps up there will be more threads about "Where's the Like button gone?" than "How do I delete my account?".

If only users took the time to read a bit, instead of rushing and create threads.

Which same passwords are in danger here? Those associated to the current email in FFShrine, or pretty much every password/account/email that one has?
Your password on FFshrine.
However, if you use the same password anywhere else, change it.
