Hi everybody,

Currently have a Focal Chorus 800 V 5.1 system + Yamaha RX-A2030 amp, i usually listen to my CDs, SACDs and lossless files with it, but i begin to be interested in vinyls, the idea of collecting my favorite scores and listen to them that way is interesting. But before investing in a Vinyl setup that would be expensive + all the vinyls to buy (past and to come), i would need your opinion. In term of listening experience, comparing to lossless music, are the vinyl worth it ? I read here and there that the analog sound isn't better "on the paper" but once listened to it is far more dynamic.

There are numerous vinyl releases that haven't been uploaded yet, I think that alone makes them worth ripping for archiving.

I think Tiesto was looking for a comparison as far as listening to them. [I'm guessing they don't have that much vinyl, or that they might have stuff that's already been added here]

I wouldn't imagine that vinyl would sound better than lossless, unless the Lossless was ripped [or otherwise obtained] from a lower quality source. Vinyl does, however, give a soundtrack a more "vintage" feel, no matter how new or old. I think this is due to the vinyl's "crackle" when being played. Vinyl does have it's own characteristics, and I think it's a personal preference as to whether you enjoy that sound or not.

My opinion: I'm not a huge fan of anything that would take away from my own personal enjoyment of music, so unless vinyl is the only option, I'd go for a clearer sound. I don't particularly care for the crackle, so I'll forgo it, if given the option.
