Does anybody find it a bit unfair that when you are in the pause/menu screen in final fantasies, the play time clock keeps going. I DO

I find it annoying that I can't equip myself in a magic menu and carry 5000 items at a time with no discernable backpack or other luggage carrier, personally.
But I guess that's just me!

I think it should be recorded, because you may be equipping or changing items, so it still counts as part of the game. ^_^

I think it's a giantic pain in the ass. Wait, what outcome does time taken have on the game?

Well, on FFVIII if the time goes after 99 hours and 99 minutes, the games meant to fuck up - but thats just a rumour.

My FFX is on 170hours or something like that cos I keep on leaving it one if I go out and I cba to turn it off.
But FFIX's timer doesn't go, at least I think I tested it to see if it was true.

When a game has a clock that doesn't continue to tick, I refer to that as "true pause." I know for sure that both Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X-2 have true pause. Final Fantasy X and I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy VII do not have true pause. Same for Kingdom Hearts, I believe. Not sure about any others, without checking.
Oh, and none of the games will actually screw up if you go "over-time." I know for my own eyes that Final Fantasy IX's clock resets to zero and starts reading in red.
"I said time may change me / But I can't trace time..."
