Thanks for these, where did you find them, FORZA? They sound really nice. I don't think this score will ever rival with James Newton Howard's score for Peter Pan (2003), that score is just downright beautiful. But, I've only heard a few samples from Powell's work, so when the full thing does leak, I will check it out. But right now, I'm not sold.
But, I'm still distraught that they fired Marianelli. Sorry, but I think he would have done better work for a project such as this.
Thanks for bringing these to my attention though, I would never have guessed that they already released some samples for a score releasing in October.
Awesome! :)

I think saying these are "amazing" is a bit of an overstatement. Don;t really care for the "Cable Car", but "Ship Fight" is nice.
where'd you get these

Powell's my favorite composer. I'm always going to support him... And I don't know... It's just something I get when I listen to his music. Like a sence of excitement. It's like I can connect with it.
I don't really know how to explain it but it is what it is lol.

Although I do find these samples really nice, I have to agree with you. I'm not quite sold on this yet and I absolutely adore James Newton Howard's score for Peter Pan. One of my favorites.

I get it. I'm sure I'll enjoy the score, I just think there's a bit of an exaggeration. But any fanboy is gonna say that about their favorite composer's work. Hey, Interstellar I still consider amazing and it continues to give me the feels

Hahahah I get it ;)
I really like Interstellar but I don't think it's amazing. It just doesn't have that excitement I always look for. But don't get me wrong... It's one of my favorites from Zimmer :)
About Pan, it gets me a little bit distracted sometimes since you can hear a few similarities from Mars Needs Mom here and there. I still can't wait!

John Powell is pretty much amazing. Each time he releases a new colorful score it brightens my day. High five for sharing.

I don't like music of Dario Marianelli so I'm very happy to hear John Powell!
In the last years he composes few scores and I don't know why.
A score by John Powell is always a wonderful score!

The samples seem pretty standard JP. Nothing brilliant. Just adequate. Will have to wait for the entire thing to make a judgement. Marianelli would've knocked it out of the park for sure.

Thanks for the samples.
Not bad, but nothing to call home about, though. If this is the level of the whole score, I would have preferred Marianelli :(

Am I the only one who notices Powell is using the same f***ing melody over and over again in every score?!
Sure, his music is always exiting and beautifully orchestrated - but this starts to become embarrassing. (Actually it was already, at least a dozen scores before this one)

It's just his touch, as Ponyo said.
I don't listen to much Powell but I instantly recognized this as his work.
Anyway, I like what I hear.
