I downloaded from here two big TAK files with their matching cue files but medieval cue splitter doesnt recognise tak files so I cannot split those two big files into their original tracklisting

any ideas, preferably, free ideas around it? I can play tak files with no problem and I could convert them and then split them, but I want to know if I can save the hassle from converting them because my energy levels are at the lowest and I have some work to do

cheers

Try Audacity. If "Import Audio" doesn't work then try "Import Raw".

Foobar2000 has a plugin for TAK decoder.
Download foobar2000 and optional components (http://www.foobar2000.org/download)
foobar2000: Components Repository - TAK Decoder (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_tak)

Try using that.
Load the .cue file relative to the TAK file.
You should see it gets loaded as individual tracks in FB2K and not as one long file.

Select all tracks, right-click and convert to your new format.
They also have their own encoder pack.
foobar2000: Free Encoder Pack (http://www.foobar2000.org/encoderpack)

It's been a long time since I've used TAK.
If there's no CUE file, maybe the TAK file has embedded playlist (like APE supports embedded cue list).

thanks guys, but is there no way to simply split those tak files keeping them in their tak format without converting them? audacity or any audio editor could work but it wont be a fast or quick process like it is with a normal cue splitter, in fact it wouldnt be a cue splitter at all since you'd had to manually split them one by one

the foobar alternative is so far the best but again it'd imply converting the files and ideally Id like to keep them in their original format

TAK is lossless, so converting to FLAC, ALAC, APE or TAK, it will be the same data.

I believe TAK is included with the encoder pack.
