Released by Rhino Records in 1996, this deluxe 2-CD soundtrack to Gone With The Wind, now long out-of-print, includes virtually the entire score from the beloved legendary film (All I can think of that's missing are the overture, intermission, entr'acte, and exit music suites.) remastered from the surviving recording sessions. This release was packaged much like the 2-disc deluxe soundtrack for The Wizard Of Oz, which I've also posted on here, with both discs in a longbox and an extensive booklet of liner notes with rare behind-the-scenes photos, details on the making of the film, and a synopsis of the film that tells you where each track plays in the film and gives notes on them. Sound quality isn't amazing, but these are recordings that are pushing 80 years old. Despite the lower fidelity, it's priceless to have the actual music from the film. There have been re-recordings over the years, taking advantage of improvements in audio recording, but none have ever replicated the magic of these original soundtrack recordings.
This download is ripped from my own CD copy and includes complete artwork scans. The inside of the booklet was not scanned by me, I found those online. But the outer box and the front and back booklet covers were scanned by me. I've also included some alternate covers I found on iTunes. If you're a fan of this classic film, you NEED to download this soundtrack. This version has been out of print for many years and typically goes for $40+ online - I actually had to wait quite a long time before I was lucky enough to find a copy on Amazon for $20. Well worth the wait, and well worth the hard drive space for you.
