This was done for FF8, so I will do it for FF7.
Is there anything else besides Mythril that the sleeping dude in the cave gives you when you wake him?

take the crystal of shalagraz to the man in the hood and ask for the blue orb, not the red one. Then go back to the second to last city (the final gf) then open the statue of cerberus and you'll get your final weapon. alright, glad i could help.
What the hell?

Yes, he also gives you a boltring. I think, he gave me anything else once, but I forgot what that was. ;)

They do both actually. But if you steal them, they usually don't drop them anymore. If you don't steal any, they drop them once a while. Not all the time though. You need to steal them, if you want one for sure. :)

the guy in the cave gives you a bolt ring
stealing them is easier.....they hav so much HP that killing them wastes time (they give a crap amount of exp.)
You can also gain a Carob Nut for 300GP at the Wonder Square in Gold Saucer.

But that is simply a rip-off. 300GP for a crummy little Nut?! Preposterous. Just go out, whoop the Vlakarados, STEAL Nut, end of story.

500 GP for a Gil Plus Materia. Doubles the amount of money you would normally get in a battle.

I think the only two items you get from the sleeping man are the bolt ring and mythril. I think if teh number of battles is 588, you get the bolt ring. Remember, if you want Aeris' final limit break, you'll want the mythril, trade it with the weapon seller, and take the item on the 2nd floor. ;) Hope this helped.
