It seems that it has been the most followed Musical ever, and for me it’s the greatest one.
In Wiki you can get a lot of information and there are a lot of web sites with pictures, and explanations of the different shows in all the countries so I’ll not copy/paste it here.
Of course the first Studio Recordings both in London and in Broadway are mandatory.
But I also recommend to pay attention to the two live records celebrating the 10th Anniversary at the London Royal Albert Hall, and the 25th anniversary at the London O2 Arena as both of them had a special Dream Cast with very well known guests.
It’s interesting to listen to different recordings made by different singers and sung in different languages on the different countries that the show has been performed: Japan, Germany, Israel, Spain, Hungary, Denmark, Czechkia, Korea, The Netherlands, Argentina, Poland, Canada, France, Austria, Sweden, Mexico, Italy, Norway, Brazil….
You are welcome to share your recording just for cultural exchange, and make a great tribute to this particular Musical.
I propose everyone that read this Thread that try to share the Les Miserables of his country or city Cast recording.
I’m from Spain, and I’ll upload the recordings that I have (1993 and 2010) both are in Spanish and are Original recordings.

Better if it’s FLAC, but MP3 over 192 kbps….
We’re searching for The Musical Recordings. Let’s try to have a nice collection here from all the countries, and better if it’s a good quality recordings as I have had several life recordings that have not enough quality to enjoy the music.
Lets see if you can share some interesting recording from Les Misrables.

Thank you very much for your sharing.
Les Misrables was finished in 1861 by Victor Hugo, and published in Paris in 1862.
mile Bayard was a great illustrator of novels at that time. He draw the well known emblem of the musical: Cosette
in 1980 The original arena production of the Boublil-Schnberg musical, Les Misrables, is presented at the Palais des Sports, Paris.
Here you there is the Recording of this first version of the musical originally created in French.
I was in this show many, many years ago and have over a dozen of the official cast recordings: Paris Revival (one of the absolute best recordings of the show), Vienna, Tel Aviv, Quebec, Amsterdam, Prague, Berlin, Stokholm and all six of the Japanese cast recordings.
Most of them are in 320kbps if I remember correctly.
I’ll dig them out and start uploading them if there’s any interest?
I’ll be uploading other versions that I have. I hope that other Les Misrables fans adds the versions that they may have too (better if they are from they countries) that will shows us hoy may versions have this Musical, that has been at more than 40 countries, more than 20 languages, and over 325 cities.
For sure there will be a 30th anniversary recording. Go for it!!!
Great thread!

This sounds amazing. If you are able to upload the Tel Aviv recording, that would be so awesome.
ajcrean, Thanks for posting and participate in the Thread. For sure all versions that you can upload will be of our interest, mainly if you can share one from South Africa
I didn’t even know there was a South African version. As a South African, if someone knows of this and were able to share it, I’d be extremely thankful. I wonder how it would compare to other versions of the musical.
I’m sharing the Israel version as requested and the 21st Anniversary Concert managed by the BBC 2.

The mighty Paris Revival Cast Recording: this was (and still is, in my opinion) considered the definitive recording of the show in its early 90s format.
I ripped this from my original CDs many years ago but – sadly – lost both the inserts and booklet so am unable to offer any scans.

Howzit, boet! Sadly, there was never a recording of the South African production as it was actually an international touring cast that visited the country in ’94 and a number of locals were cast after some of the touring members returned to London for casting rotations in Phantom and Cats. I’ve heard a couple of bootlegs over the years but the sound was beyond horrific. I know that soundboard recordings were made but the production company never shared them…

Hey bru. Things are pretty lekker here. Pity there were never any shared recording of that international touring cast. Many thanks for sharing the Paris Revival Cast soundtrack.
On an unrelated note, I wonder if there were ever any recording of the Annie production from the late 90’s/early 2000’s in Johannesburg near Village Walk (if I’m remembering right) with Robert Whitehead as Oliver Warbucks (pretty sure it was him…I think). Doubt it, but I guess it would be nice if those existed somewhere.

Two great recordings; both sung in German. The Duisburg cast is particularly good.
I can only offer these as MP3s. The CDs are impossible to find in my part of the world and are now probably out of print in most territories.
If anyone knows of a lossless source, I’d be very interested…
NB: L’integrale from 2009
This is a duplicate: the first two disks are the Original French concept Album (shared in post #13) and disks 3 and 4 are the ’91 Paris Revival recording.

I’ve no idea, I’m afraid…
I have a doubt your Vienna cast recording of course is from 1988 as it’s said in the back of the print. My question is if someone knows if there is another Vienna recording from 1998.

I would like to share another forum with lots threads and pictures of les Mis, just to see how many recordings you can find at the world

I have lots to consider for future listenings.
I belive I have one of the original cast recordings plus the 10th and 25th anniversary.
I downloaded a bluray rip of the 25th ann. and it was beyond spectacular. Didn’t even really mind at all that one of the kid pop band members was a part of it. The Jonas Brothers? one of them, I think.
I really got emotional for the encore where the two Valjean’s did a duet.
Which format????
Format can be the best that you have (it’s better something than nothing)
I think he means to ask which formats are you providing for you shares.
The links lack details about format and bitrate.
Which is good for people to know, in case they have it in a different format and decide that what you provide is an upgrade or not.
Just informational.

That recording is the only official recording from Austria. There wasn’t a production in Vienna (or the whole of Austria) for that matter in 1998.
Let’s see if someone else shares another recording
First of the two Dutch cast recordings. A mixed bag in my opinion, but notable for featuring lots of then-upcoming star names for European musical theatre.
Jean Valjean – Henk Poort
Javert – Ernst Danil Smid
Cosette – Joke de Kruijf
Marius – Danny de Munk
Fantine – Pia Douwes
ponine – Vera Mann
Thenardier – Paul de Leeuw
Enjolras – Bill van Dijk
Madame Thenardier – Simone Kleinsma
Henk Poort and Joke de Kruijf would two years later star in the Dutch premiere of Phantom of the Opera in Scheveningen, as Phantom and Christine, respectively. (With the production’s Javert understudy, Peter de Smet, as Raoul). Pia Douwes and Uwe Krger (in the ensemble) would have their big break in Vienna in Elisabeth the next year. A certain Maya Hakvoort was in the ensemble aswell.
PM for link, please. (Cannot compromise current Mega account, sorry.)

These are not official releases – they were not released officially – so the sound is not always great.
When they’re not an official recording of course sound is not the best.
I have the opening of Pittsburgh (July 2nd 2009) and sound is horrible very metallic and a lot of echo), but it’s an interesting recording.
As I have said, one of the recordings that I like the best is the 10th anniversary. I have seen it hundreds of times first in video and now in CD.
Thanks for this sharing I have enjoyed them.
Maybe someone has a friend that has been at the sound table in any of the shows and can share a not official recording (bootleg) in a good quality.
It would be great.
