The WB soundtrack LP of the 1967 film version of Lerner & Loewe’s CAMELOT (and the currently available CD) features only about 45 minutes of music and there are some clumsy cuts (The overture especially and the choral part of “The Lusty Month of May” cut out). Also, Richard Harris’ pre-recordings are used instead of his live vocals recorded on the set during shooting and for the most part, except for a small amount of post dubbing, used in the finished film (recorded with an improved version of the body mike system used for Rex Harrison in '”My Fair Lady 3 years earlier). I have put together a newly mixed and remastered 2 hour expanded edition of the score from surviving film elements, including the multi track music and vocal separations of the song score, a four track music & effects tape and other private sources to include as much of the underscore as possible. Despite my best efforts I was forced to use several segments of underscore (totaling about 1 minute or so) that included some sfx but I felt that this was preferable to leaving out some of the most beautiful of Alfred Newman’s musical arrangements. I tried to match up, combine and use the best portions of these sources to produce this new expanded edition. In two instances where my song score sources were too damaged I had to use part of the WB soundtrack album master but fortunately the music is identical to what was used in the film. The new mastering is 2 1/2 times longer (119 minutes) and includes Harris live vocals, the complete song score and the majority of the underscore which Alfred Newman & Ken Darby adapted from Frederick Loewe’s original music for the stage version of “Camelot”. This was one of the most difficult but also most gratifying remasters I have ever attempted but CAMELOT is one of my all time favourite soundtracks and Alfred Newman & Ken Darby's adaptation of Lerner & Loewe’s score is simply glorious. I hope you can overlook the flaws described above and enjoy this wonderful soundtrack as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
THE SHARING TIME FOR THIS DOWNLOAD HAS ENDED.
The tracks for each file are programmed to play straight through without pause (If you make a 2 CD set, do not put a 2 second gap between tracks)

SendSpace’s download pages are loaded with mixed messages but the blue rectangular ‘DOWNLOAD’ button in the centre of the page will go directly to the download files.

Although I find the film incredibly dull, Alfred Newman's scoring is, as always, magnificent. I would love to hear your restoration work on this and wondered if you possibly had mp3 links for this complete set?

Thank you so much for the mp3 version. What I've played so far sounds wonderful! Interesting that the roadshow overture was originally four minutes or so longer than what we hear on the DVD.

Thanks for the higher resolution download, Stevie. The problem with any mp3 download is that, unlike FLAC, while the tracks for each file are programmed to play straight through without pause, when you burn a CD of the download, there will always be a slight gap or noticeable blip between tracks.

I have burned mp3 downloads in both ITunes & Nero and as long as I check the boxes that indicate to leave out the gap between tracks, the CDs have played through without any blips. However, some downloads I have gotten on this site, both mp3 & flac have gaps already imbedded in the zip file which are difficult if not impossible to remove.
