Wonder what this movie and score is like... When you say 'scarce' do you mean it has a limited release? Also, is that the official artwork? It looks just like the custom cover that was recently posted on the cover thread.

No information on limited release at WaterTower Music - San Andreas: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (

Thanks! Great score! But Lockington also worked on the arrangement of California Dreamin', since it has the same children's choir, orchestra, and low guitar blast (a vertical piano literally destroyed and recorded) from the score.

He's his own composer. He's not connected to RCP in any way. So you can relax.

Considering his portfolio, I am going to steer clear from him just as I would with Jablonsky.

Really? I'm not going to lie, kinda surprised. I mean... I know your avatar is OP and I know Jablo's music has very wide traction but you sruck me as more of a Goldsmith or Newman fan. Admittedly, I still do have a few tracks from the first Transformers score on my gym playlist but that's about it. By the way I feel a rather completely formed rant about to happen so let me just add a tiny disclaimer to say that this is my opinion and though I feel that it is, in my opinion, corroborated by plain evidence, it's still as subjective as anything could ever be. Back to Jablo and his music: I did find the horn interesting (yes singular, he only ever uses THAT one sound and it makes an oboe sound like an instrument that could carry a full-blown orchestra *pun intended*). I liked it. The first time and for a brief moment. Once those four minutes of excitement had expired and once I realized it was just horns added on layers of derivative and repetitive trailer music, I felt so disappointed with myself (what resulted was an identity crisis I could only ever understate so *fastforward*). Honestly, in my opinion, if film composition is still today seen as the demented inbred cousin of classical music, I feel it's because of composers like him and about 84% of anyone who has ever been associated with RCP and its predecessor... or, now that I think about it, Howard Shore for that redundant mess of the LOTR Symphony which is everything outside of being a symphony (I was borderline offended by the bare change in orchestration). Sorry, as I feared that devolved into a rant, but, if I may, why do you "love" Jablonsky? I'm genuinely curious. I like discussing things, particularly over things where there might be a definite, yet civil, disagreement :)

I love Lockington's stuff. Always works hard to put heart and whimsy into his scores. Thought City of Ember and the Journey movies each had some brilliant tracks, especially for the climactic material. He's one of the good guys. Thanks for the share!!

Thanks for the merchandise ! Now that Goldsmith and Horner sadly have left the stage, Lockington seems to be one of the only leftovers (besides James Newton-Howard, Elfman and Williams to name the great ones) who is capable of delivering a "real" classical score with grandeur and development. Hope Hollywood will give him enough credit to grow further.

You've placed an absolute no-one on par with Williams who has garnered five Academy Awards from 49 nominations, four Golden Globe Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, and 22 Grammy Awards. Just leave.
